PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Americas RMRLegacy outlast M80 to earn Major berth
coldzera and company become the fourth Brazilian squad to make it through the Americas RMR.
Legacy are the fourth South American team to progress to the Major after beating M80 in a close-fought three-map series (Overpass 6-13, Ancient 16-12, Inferno 13-8). Their qualification marks Marcelo "coldzera" David's eleventh appearance at a Major and his return to the Valve-sponsored event after he missed out on 2023's BLAST.tv Paris Major.
Legacy's road to the Major started terribly, as they were demolished 13-2 by paiN in the opening round, but the Brazilians recovered by defeating Nouns, MIBR, and M80 when their backs were against the wall.

"T side Overpass is rough when you don't start well. Ancient we started weak, but [the comeback] was crazy," said Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato about recovering from a rough start on their map pick.
He also commented on the emotional side as Legacy won the out-of-server screaming match too: "It's the Brazilian emotion! It's hard to control it, maybe we need to chill a bit for the Major so I can call in freeze time."
Conversely, M80 are eliminated after a spirited performance while playing with their coach Rory "dephh" Jackson. Their loss means that no American players have qualified for the Major thus far, though, with the country's hopes now lying entirely on Complexity's trio.
Overpass was Legacy's pick in the match, but the Brazilians got off to a terrible start. They posted just one round on their offense as Ethan "reck" Serrano shut down anything they had to offer, and while they were able to make the scoreline somewhat respectable in the second half, M80 still closed out a comfortable 13-6 victory.
Ancient was up next and proved to be a marathon affair. The teams were unable to be separated in regulation as Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa and Bruno "latto" Rebelatto traded blows round after round, but coldzera and company were able to put together a flawless overtime to tie up the series.
Inferno was the decider, where Legacy got off to a quick 5-2 off the back of their force-buy wars victory before M80 slowly reeled them back as the half ended 6-6. The Brazilians then won their fifth pistol of the series to retake the lead, one they would keep until the end of the map to secure the all-important Major spot.
