Alliance qualify for ESL Challenger Jönköping

The experienced squad earned their spot via the Sweden open qualifier.

Alliance have become the first team to qualify for ESL Challenger Jönköping, set to take place June 14-16, after a successful run through the Sweden open qualifier.

The experienced Swedes benefitted from a kind draw, being placed on the opposite side of the bracket to both Metizport and EYEBALLERS. They first took out a Johnny Speeds project featuring the likes of William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin and Jonas "⁠Lekr0⁠" Olofsson, beating the org-less squad with minimal fuss.

An unranked team awaited Alliance in the semi-finals of the qualifier, with BLUDS having earned their semi-final berth via an unexpected upset win over GODSENT. BLUDS could not repeat the feat as Alliance claimed a comfortable 13-7 victory, thanks in no small part to Simon "⁠twist⁠" Eliasson's 130 ADR, to set up a final bout with EYEBALLERS.

Alliance had to battle back from losing their map pick to kick off the series against EYEBALLERS, their T side not measuring up to EYEBALLERS' efforts on Anubis. The script was flipped on Mirage as Alliance came out swinging on T side after splitting the first half evenly, and then they sealed the deal on Overpass thanks to an imperious 10-2 defensive half.

Alliance will be joined by seven more teams in Jönköping in June for the $100,000 LAN, three via the ESL ranking and four via further qualifiers. The winners of the Challenger event will earn themselves $50,000 and a spot in ESL Pro League Season 20.
