HEROIC round out IEM Dallas list

The Danish-majority team has secured the final spot at the North American event.

HEROIC have qualified for IEM Dallas 2024 after coming in second place in the European closed qualifier. Damjan "⁠kyxsan⁠" Stoilkovski’s troops grabbed the last spot at the $250,000 tournament, joining a stacked list that includes eight of the current top ten teams in the world.

HEROIC began their qualifying run with close victories against Preasy and ENCE before being stopped in their tracks by Virtus.pro in the upper bracket final. That set them on a collision course with Metizport, who had survived three elimination series in the qualifier’s lower bracket.

The Swedish team has become one of Counter-Strike’s feel-good stories of 2024, but here they were outclassed by HEROIC, mustering only four rounds on Vertigo and five on Anubis. Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck led the charge for his team with an impressive 1.87 rating thanks to a 2.25 rating on Vertigo — the second-highest of his career.

The lopsided score shouldn’t take away from how far Metizport have managed to come this year. The Swedish team came within one match of qualifying for the BLAST Premier Spring Final and IEM Dallas, an incredible achievement for a young squad that broke into the top 30 in the rankings only two days ago.

HEROIC’s qualification for IEM Dallas will certainly offset some of the pain from the recent failure in the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by OG.

IEM Dallas will take place between May 27 and June 2 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center as part of DreamHack Dallas. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
