PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024Imperial and Eternal Fire move on to 1-0 pool over VP and Vitality
The first upsets came early in the second stage of PGL Major Copenhagen.
Vitality and Virtus.pro are the first favorites to fall in the opening round of PGL Major Copenhagen, suffering defeats at the hands of Eternal Fire and Imperial in best-of-one matches.
Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and company came at the receiving end of the closer defeat of the two after they couldn't close out a comeback against the red-hot Turkish squad powered by yet another superb Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş performance — a 1.61 rating.
The rare Inferno matchup got away from Vitality after they lost the third round to just some upgraded pistols, and Eternal Fire ran away with the Terrorist half after that.
After being down 2-6 Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut's entries helped pave the way to a comeback for Vitality, who ended the half with five rounds to their name in the end, and went on to equalize things off of a forcebuy win in the second round of the second half. From there on, though, they ran into a wall with Özgür "woxic" Eker finding three consecutive openers all around the map.

In another Inferno game, one of the biggest surprises of the first stage, Imperial, punished Virtus.pro's mistakes time and time again to recover from a slow start on the offense.
They ended the first half by winning five consecutive situations where they gave up the opening kill, as well as a 2v4 afterplant situation in the final round of the half. The Brazilians followed it up with a near-perfect defense to send Virtus.pro to the 0-1 pool heading into round two.
