Aurora are through to BetBoom Dacha Belgrade after winning the European closed qualifier grand final against AMKAL with a 2-0 scoreline (Mirage 13-6, Inferno 16-13) to become the final team to lock in a spot at the $500,000 event, set to run on May 14-19.

Aurora's qualification comes after the team hit some hot form following the signing of Evgeny "⁠r3salt⁠" Frolov from FORZE, as the Russian squad sports a 76.5% map win rate since his addition.

The 19-year-old added a significant firepower upgrade to the team and put up a 1.25 rating across the tournament while also starring in the grand final against AMKAL (1.57), where the Russian squad came back from a 2-10 deficit to secure their spot at the Serbian tournament.

FORZE bench roster, r3salt joins Aurora

Aurora could have hardly had a worse start to the qualifier, as they lost their opening match to 1win with a 1-13 scoreline. They bounced back well, though, beating Metizport, 9 Pandas, and 1win while losing just one map to qualify for the Play-In.

The Russian squad began the next stage with another tough loss against BetBoom but once again bounced back by edging past Apeks and BetBoom in three-map affairs to make the grand final.

The final started on Mirage, where Denis "⁠deko⁠" Zhukov and company ran away to a 7-1 lead only to drop a crucial 3vs5 to pistols, which allowed AMKAL to reduce the deficit to 4-8. That was as good as it got for Vladislav "⁠Krad⁠" Kravchenko's troops, however, as Aurora put up a wall on the CT side to close out the map with a 13-6 scoreline.

Inferno was next on the menu, and AMKAL answered with a dominant 10-2 half, only for Aurora to bring it back all the way to overtime. Once there, r3salt and company made the most of their momentum and mental edge to secure a 16-13 win, with the 19-year-old reaching 29 kills in the final round of the map.
