Media: FURIA practicing with kye in place of arT
The tenured captain isn't playing with the team ahead of their Global Esports Tour Rio appearance.

FURIA are bootcamping in São Paulo with academy member Kayke "kye" Bertolucci in place of in-game leader Andrei "arT" Piovezan, according to a report by Dust2.br. A report by Draft5.gg earlier on Monday pointed toward the team using this modified lineup for Global Esports Tour Rio, which will run from April 18-20 in Rio de Janeiro with $200,000 on offer.
The news follows mere days after FURIA's group stage elimination from IEM Chengdu, which saw the team come within touching distance of the playoffs before they were eliminated following losses to MOUZ and HEROIC.
That loss, paired with a lackluster string of results since the start of the year including defeat in the Elimination Stage of PGL Major Copenhagen and early exit from the IEM Katowice Play-in, prompted FURIA co-owner and co-CEO André Akkari to acknowledge that changes were needed within the team.

arT is one of the longest-standing members of FURIA, joining the organization in February 2018 alongside Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato. The team found swift success domestically and soon moved to the United States to pursue regular international competition, making an early impression with a handful of deep runs at Big Events, recording notable wins over top-ranked teams, and qualifying for the organization's first Major.
Those performances quickly made the team's individuals, particularly KSCERATO and Yuri "yuurih" Santos, hot targets for other Brazilian organizations. In a move to quell speculation and lock down their talent, FURIA signed five-year contract extensions with the entire lineup in 2019, a deal that came under fire immediately from members in the community and has remained a contentious topic over the years as the team failed to lift any of the biggest tournament trophies.
arT's responsibility for those results became a larger topic over the years and even more so after Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's addition as leadership changed hands multiple times between the pair, eventually returning to arT's hands at the end of 2023.
kye, who is reportedly practicing with the team in arT's stead ahead of GET Rio, has played for a wealth of different South American lineups since 2020 as he gained experience, plying his trade for paiN's academy roster in 2022 before joining FURIA Academy. The 19-year-old has averaged a 1.09 rating since the switch to CS2, but will face stiff competition and has big shoes to fill at GET Rio as he would replace FURIA's staple space-maker.
FURIA's lineup for Global Esports Tour Rio is expected to be:
Yuri "yuurih" Santos
Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo
Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes
Kayke "kye" Bertolucci (stand-in)
Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira (coach)

Ludvig 'Brollan' Brolin
Kamil 'siuhy' Szkaradek
Ádám 'torzsi' Torzsás
Jimi 'Jimpphat' Salo
Dorian 'xertioN' Berman
Dennis 'sycrone' Nielsen
