Sashi defeat Cloud9 and Eternal Fire in shock EWC qualification run
The Danish squad were heavy underdogs in the closed qualifier, but upset big-name teams to earn an Esports World Cup slot.

Sashi have completed a surprise underdog run through the Esports World Cup Europe closed qualifier to grab a spot at the tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, taking down a weakened Cloud9 twice and Eternal Fire once on their way to qualification.
The current Sashi lineup have only been with the Danish organization for less than a week, having competed as Espionage for the majority of the past year until that organization ceased operations recently.
In their qualification run Sashi could not have been dealt a tougher hand as they faced two PGL Major Copenhagen quarter-finalists and, because they won their opening game, did not ever match up against the seemingly more beatable opponents of BetBoom.

After squeaking through a hard-fought opening victory against Cloud9, where a stunning 1.51-rated overperformance by Oliver "IceBerg" Berg clinched the decider of Mirage 13-11, Sashi were dealt a blow as they were brushed aside relatively comfortably by Eternal Fire.
Not to be deterred, the Danes rallied and put in an even better performance against Cloud9 in the lower bracket, cruising past the Russians on both maps in a confident 2-0 victory to set up a rematch with Eternal Fire in the final.

Sashi sealed their pick of Nuke 16-14 to open the series, battling through a tough overtime brawl thanks to a flawless three-round run on their T side in the extra rounds. Vertigo was one to forget for the Danes as Eternal Fire schooled them on the map, Ismailcan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş' blistering entry work giving way to Buğra "Calyx" Arkın's excellent defensive holds for a 13-6 win for the Turks.
The decider of Overpass came down to one man: Casper "Cabbi" Jensen. The 25-year-old put in the second-highest rated map of his career (2.23) as he single-handedly carried Sashi to an emphatic 13-4 victory, sealing the series and a spot at EWC for his team.
