Media: Wildcard in talks with Case over snow

The North American organization has expressed an interest in signing the 17-year-old Brazilian.

Wildcard are reportedly after snow

Wildcard have opened exploratory discussions with Case about signing João "snow" Vinicius, Dust2 Brasil has reported. A formal offer has not yet been made, but the 17-year-old is believed to have already held talks with the North American team, which is coached by fellow Brazilian João "horvy" Horvath.

snow burst onto the scene in 2020 at the age of 13 when he was signed by BOOM as a backup option ahead of Gamers Club Masters V. He went on to play for Young Gods and Los Grandes Academy before joining Case in March 2023.

The Brazilian teen has established himself as a key player for Case, especially since the release of Counter-Strike 2. He is averaging a team-high 1.19 rating and 1.27 impact in 2024.

Wildcard are still in the market for a new fifth player after parting ways with Gage "Infinite" Green last month. Since then, Qihao "C4LLM3SU3" Su has been playing with the team in online competitions on a trial basis.

Earlier this month, Wildcard attended IEM Chengdu as a late replacement for Complexity. With horvy and Ian "motm" Hardy acting as stand-ins, the team went out in 13th-16th place after losing to Virtus.pro and Cloud9.

drop got them their only Major semi-final. Was MVP against NAVI. And singlehandedly won that Spirit Bo1. Now he is averaging 1.10+ for MIBR, arguably the best team in Brazil. Was probably the best player for MIBR during GET Rio. Destroyed paiN to put them in ESWC and destroyed OG on Inferno to put MIBR in GET Rio Top 3. You are just a hater. FURIA wasn’t a good team for him, yet he delivered when needed. Even arT, who didn’t want him at first, said that he was very good a FURIA in the end.

I like where their heads are at. Sometimes scouting unknown talents like this pays off. I remember when seangares found amanek and devoduvek who were just players in Mountain Dew league. It seemed so random at the time for them to pick up 2 french fries but it actually made misfits a pretty good team

Hes is known in br scene, gaules and his friends always says he plays well, specialy for his age, but his team never qualifies for international tournaments or wins sa championships or get invites for closed qualifiers. When they apear in greater br streams it is because they are playing agains Mibr/Imperial/Pain.

does "pretty religiously" only mean watching Tier 1 events? Case Esports has been playing in pretty much all of the notable tier 2 events in South America for like 2 years now. Even then Snow played in Weplay Academy League with Young Gods at the age of 15 which is when I first heard of him.

yeah because they were playing SA open qualifiers that are 10x harder than NAs, and it's not even an exaggeration, besides Liquid, Col and M80 every other team would have little to no chance of qualifying in SA, that's just the reality

Well, you can close your eyes and pretend NA is the best in the world but those are facts, just look at the last RMR results hltv.org/events/7261/pgl-cs2-major-copen.. Or the fact that Legacy, a team that just lost their IGL, replaced by a retired player/streamer while changing their communication language, still managed to beat Elevate, one of those tier 2 NA teams, that got there by defeating wildcard and nouns. I'm sorry but difference between NA's and SA's tier 2/3 is just that big

NA tier 2 is easier than SA to get spots for big events, there are only M80, Legacy and Liquid (but Liquid is nerfed on online) as good teams, and too it's a upgrade compared to Case

With the pieces that Liquid had they should have qualified with one hand on their back, M80 even with a coach had the chance but choked in a matchpoint against legacy, Legacy was playing in SA at the time, I'm not saying that the gap is huge but SA today is a little better in general level

None of what you just said changes anything I said in #41 If Legacy taking a spot at the RMR was a positive for SA, now that they are NA, it's a positive for us. And whether or not M80 "had a chance" doesn't change the fact that they 1 map from taking as spot as well despite playing with a coach who hadn't played CS officials in years.

CS is so crazy that maybe M80 could have played worse with Mankz, who knows? And for me slaxz missing easy shots with AWP compromised their qualification more than dephh.

If I were a pro player today, I'd prefer to play on NA than SA in terms of the difficulty of getting spots, Imperial, pain and Imperial are evolving very quickly.
2024-04-21 21:23

I get what you are saying and, about major, brazilians were distrustful about brazilian teams capabilities agains the NA. We were afraid of having just Furia qualified or not even them. But the future showed br teams could get 4 spots. Almost no one thought legacy could get a spot, but even they could, carried by coldzera that is not in the team anymore. My point is, the NA teams have to prove themselves against other regions to have a real perspective of how well they are playing. Br teams (except for Furia) just proved themselves against some european teams, winning every match against them. NA teams got do some similar, or play another tornment/qualifier with br teams, just then we can compare the two regions properly.

This is the most dellusional thing i've seen in HLTV for a long time, not gonna lie. Like, imperial, pain, mibr and furia a simply not losing to M80 (your third best team), + red canids, legacy, 9z and maybe fluxo are as good as M80. PAIN IMPERIAL FURIA MIBR === COMPLEXITY > LIQUID > Legacy > m80 === 9z and red > fluxo > oddik sharks and bestia === nouns wildcard, party astronauts, boss, nrg...

Should've given more time to nyezin. Imagine winning a LAN at home and getting kicked lol

both were good before pain imo, that's why Pain hired them, nyezin came because they have no choice, just a stand in

If he is going to NA, I’d like to see him on Legacy or Liquid (both in need of a 5th imo). He isn’t a gamble, kid is 100% going to perform. snowzin is that kind of wonderkid like Endrick or Neymar that is hyped from extremely young age and never let the expectations down.

Isnt pain like perfect for both him and the organization? I mean pain is well known for building talents, and they dont have international spots RN, which would probably enable snowzin to finish school (if he wants to). Plus pain needs a good consistent rifler, and, at least for case, snowzin is this guy. He'll probably be better than nyezin at the very least, and will bring midia to the team. Not to mention he would 100% get sticker money.

I said “if he’s going to NA”. And while, yeah, maybe paiN is the better team out of these and would be good for him to play in a team as good as paiN, I don’t think it would be the right choice exactly because paiN won’t be playing many internationals. He can finish school elsewhere. Wildcard is a contender for North American spots. He’ll be getting used to play in English (which expands his career possibilities a lot). He’ll get international experience from the get go. There won’t be much pressure on him. I think it’s really good for both.

Yes, lil snow needs to get put of case. The good BR teams doesn't need a new player, Legacy is a shitshow, a NA team seems good for him to get some experience and learn English so in the future he can go to a good T2 EU team.

I like this idea. Nowadays you need to get used to international teams as early as possible. If he play well in the tier10 NA he can go to another org and eventually go to some European tier S. This is the ideal path for a brazilian young talent on my opinion. If he stays in brazil, like kscerato/yuurih I think he will regret in the future.

Good move if it happens. Stan is a good experience IGL to learn from. Pairing him and JBa together could be fun to watch

If they do get them who are they replacing? Cant really see them replacing Sue as they are actually doing decent and are young so they could develop more so would this be instead of Sonic? Tho if Sue is getting dropped they will for sure find a good team.
