ESL Pro League S19 playoffs bracket set

A stacked part of the playoffs has the Major finalists and Vitality all on the same side.

The playoffs bracket of ESL Pro League Season 19 was finalized after Complexity claimed the last spot in the quarter-finals with a win of Group D over Natus Vincere.

The semi-drawn and ranking-based distribution has created a stacked bottom row of the single elimination bracket, which has the PGL Major Copenhagen finalists, FaZe and Natus Vincere, set for potential collision in round two and Vitality awaiting the winner in the quarter-finals.

Recent risers Liquid and Astralis also reside in the same half, staggered in rounds ahead of a BetBoom vs. FlyQuest matchup.

G2 and MOUZ are the highest-ranked teams of the top side, with the former requiring two wins before they can face off against the Group C winners following their group stage struggles.

The playoffs begin with the first round on Tuesday. You can find the full schedule below:

So Faze gets drawn into hardest groups of all, loses just one match to Astralis and qualifies in that hard group anyway just to get drawn into literally the hardest possible bracket just like in Major playing Navi, Vitality, most likely Astralis and finalist if they somehow make it, while LuLtus Pro which got beaten twice in same group including Faze and had to qualify in last chance is not only in same playoff round without any difference, but gets to play FlukeLegion and Complexity??? Faze got literally punished for winning against Virtus Pro and would have milion times easier way to the final. Just piss off ESL with this system. Streak of finals is most likely over, Faze didn't even properly practised before this event and gets f#cked over by brackets and seeding time and time again, I know it's not true, but it might seem like event orgs are literally trying their best to end Faze's streak.

Faze or Vitality doesn’t matter, you are getting cleared anyway, only chance is if Navi somehow flukes both Faze and Vitality, then they are getting destroyed by Astralis

G2 will try to lose against Big and 3Dmax. This team always try their best to lose like it happen with M80. In G2 we have Hooxie doing his life event with positive scores multiple times, Niko full tilt at start of every game and monesy trying his best to carry his teammates.

only thing in understood was that quarter-finalists were seeded by esl ranking. rest they just looked from a laptop, no explanation lol

yeah I feel like they could have used seeding for Ro12 part of the bracket as well instead of random draw. 3DMax and MongolZ had 50/50 chance of either facing the top seed or the 4th seed if they reach the quarterfinals which is too random for my liking

It wasn't random draw. 1st place teams were seeded by ESL ranking. 3rd place from their group was placed on the other quarter in their half. 2nd were put 2 quarters down. 4th was put in the remaining quarter. It is done so that nobody in the same group can face each other before the semi final. Any quirks in the draw are purely down to the group stage results. As I said in #82, teams need to play better earlier or this is what will happen.

There was a random component to the Ro12 bracket, it was even broadcasted live. The 2nd place teams from each group were placed in the opposite side of the bracket so that they don't face the 1st place team from their own group. However then they did a random draw to decided between which of the two rows the Ro12 teams would be placed in.

As I seem to tell people time and time again: If the 'good' teams don't want to be placed against each other early in the bracket, they need to start winning the earlier 'meaningless' matches more. This is what happens when there are upsets in the group stage. The teams that play well in that shouldn't be punished just because you don't like the way the draw shaped up.
