ESL Pro League Season 19Virtus.pro grind down GamerLegion in Malta
The Russian side needed to use their considerable experience to outlast GamerLegion.
Virtus.pro have moved on to the next round of the playoffs at ESL Pro League by virtue of a hard-fought 2-0 win over GamerLegion, sealing the deal with victories on Anubis (13-11) and Mirage (13-11).
Virtus.pro's performances in their debut tournament with Denis "electroNic" Sharipov amongst their number have not inspired confidence, and this series did little to change that fact.
They suffered a shock loss to fnatic to open their campaign, were handily dealt with by FaZe in the group stage, and only had to beat SAW and fnatic to get this far.
Considering GamerLegion are a new roster with two very inexperienced players amongst their number, this laboured victory is nothing for Virtus.pro to get excited about. They were in tough positions on both maps that they managed to wriggle out of, but at least electroNic had a solid series and was particularly potent on the second map.
Next up for Virtus.pro will be a tough matchup with The MongolZ, and they will have to step up their game if they are to beat the in-form Mongolian squad.

GamerLegion, by contrast, can be very happy with their first LAN outing with Henrich "sl3nd" Hevesi and Andreas "aNdu" Maasing amongst their number. Both youngsters produced impressive highlight moments and strong fragging performances at times during Pro League, and on another day GamerLegion could easily have taken this series to a decider, or even won it.
