ryu returns to Monte academy after EPL exit

The Lithuanian's stint with the main team ends after two months.

Monte have announced Gytis "⁠ryu⁠" Glušauskas' return to the organization's academy roster, Monte Gen.

The 19-year-old was promoted from the junior roster in March alongside Jack "⁠Gizmy⁠" von Spreckelsen to replace Viktor "⁠sdy⁠" Orudzhev and Astralis-bound Alexander "⁠br0⁠" Bro, and went on to play four tournaments with the main team with mixed success.

ryu's last outing took place at the ESL Pro League Season 19, his first Big Event appearance, during which he helped the team make it to the playoffs with two wins over FORZE and one over FURIA. Their campaign ended in the first round of playoffs after a three-map affair against the world's No. 1 team, FaZe.

Monte's Esports Director has thanked ryu for his dedication and stated the organization will announce the new academy and main roster lineups "soon." They have the next two weeks to do so, with the main team's next LAN outing at IEM Dallas kicking off on May 27.

Even tho I am lithuanian, I haven't been following his games at all, but I did watch the game where he played against Faze and he was nuts there.. The Nuke game he looked like a tier1 player :D And that's me talking when I was cheering for Faze and not Monte, so not being based at all, so this downgrade is surprising to me :D

he had more awful games, cruical rounds where he couldnt deliver when they entered his site.

Ryu was doing good on nuke. I hope they will bench Gizmy, they definitely need better player for his positions. He plays outside nuke, mirage con etc. and is worst player on the team

I honeslty dont know if this is really needed, they looked pretty nice in EPL for their players. Even with all the tlting they still look above tier 2 which is really good for them. Maybe they have a better player ready, otherwise kinda weird move

This is weird! He was carrying them a lot. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gizmy back in the Academy squad, but not Ryu. That's a very strange decision tbh 🤔
