Eternal Fire in trouble after 0-2 start to YaLLa Compass

The Turkish team's recent LAN struggles continue to haunt them as they risk being sent packing early.

Eternal Fire are staring elimination in the face after a forgetful first day at YaLLa Compass 2024. They are still winless after two matches and sit at the bottom of Group B, with only three best-of-one games left to play.

The Turkish team began their campaign in Abu Dhabi with an overtime loss to Complexity. A game against fnatic, the second-lowest-ranked team at the event, seemed like the perfect opportunity to bounce back, but Eternal Fire were outclassed by their opponents in an Inferno game where they were on the back foot from the beginning.

With day one in the rearview mirror, everyone except Özgür "⁠woxic⁠" Eker seems to be struggling in the fragging department, even star player Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş and Copenhagen Major sensation Ali "⁠Wicadia⁠" Haydar Yalçın. Buğra "⁠Calyx⁠" Arkın is currently one of the tournament's worst performers with a 0.65 rating.

Eternal Fire entered YaLLa Compass as one of the favorites to come out of Group B, with only Complexity ranked higher than them.The team was coming off a first-place finish in the CCT Global Finals 2024, in which they beat Liquid in the final to cap off an unbeaten run.

Eternal Fire's fans will be hoping that the team will give a better account of themselves on Thursday and avoid a repeat of the group stage exit at ESL Pro League 19.
