The Brazilian organization has expressed interest in the Argentinian sniper.

try looks set to return to the server after nine months on the bench

Imperial have opened transfer discussions with 9z about signing Santino "⁠try⁠" Rigal in place of Henrique "⁠HEN1⁠" Teles, Dust2.com.br has reported on Monday.

The Argentinian AWPer has sat on the 9z bench since October, when he stepped down from the active roster due to health reasons. In March, he announced his desire to return to the server and has now reportedly found a home in Imperial.

try: "I'm ready to compete again"

The 19-year-old burst onto the scene with 9z in 2021, during which he averaged a 1.29 rating while mostly playing in local tournaments. That earned him a move to 00NATION, with whom he notably attended IEM Cologne 2022 and the IEM Rio Major before departing the organization after a one-year stint.

He then returned to 9z at the start of 2023 and played his last official match at ESL Pro League Season 18 in September, where his team reached the second round of playoffs.

If the move comes to fruition, try would take the place of HEN1, who has been on the Imperial's roster for almost a year after he replaced Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo in July 2023.

HEN1 averaged a 1.15 rating during his tenure with the team, which reached a peak of No. 15 in the world rankings after the Copenhagen Major. However, a series of underwhelming performances has caused the team to fall 13 places, prompting the organization to consider changes.

Imperial's roster will reportedly look like this:

no he's not. Even though I like VINI, he's freaking inconsistent as a rifler since he's stepped up as Imperial's IGL and many times the team need him to perform in order to win. I'd say another IGL would have more impact than another AWPer for Imperial, but it seems they want to give VINI another chance since HEN1 is performing poorly more recently

Try finished his recovery in march of this year, and he also said that he wanted to take offers from teams that can compete in tier1 (willing to relocate in EU) . Plus, when he was ready to compete again, most of the teams were together and playing important tourneys in the middle of the season. So the shuffle in SA/EU/NA involving the teams of that caliber teams would probably start to happen in the offseason, as it is now. Also, there's the buyout, right now it should be relatively cheap.

I think every SA player can adapt to BR cores. They are used to play with each other online everyday. The opposite might not be true.

Portuguese and spanish is pretty similar. And its not the first time that try is playing on a brazilian lineup

try is already able to communicate in pt-br for a while, but even if he weren't, the communication between pt/es is easily intelligible especially after a few weeks of playing together

I’d say hen1 is quite a bit better than try. On top of that he fits the team well. This must be hen1’s own decision, right? What happened to the rumours about felps to furia? Could that be the trigger for hen1 to look around for another team? (Just speculating)

Pretty much all awpers are just like blamef using an awp. Just holds a position and throws smokes and flashes and if teammates got the site they go and plant the bomb or else save. And especially all brazilian awpers are too passive. Hen1, Zevy,Saffee,Lcm,Saadzin,Nqz,Nython and many more

Yes. And i just wanted to add to this that except few awpers who are kinda aggressive if needed to get the opening frag for the team.( Broky, Monesy, Zywoo, Hallzerk and Alistair ) Rest all awpers are too passive which is really irritating to watch.

In furia we all know (brazilians) that he wanted to play with lucas; on mibr the staff just took "leverage" getting furia players; now it's plausible that he wants to join another team, like fluxo with art or lucas/vsm etc, or the team decided to bench him and get a younger player to give more voice to VINI and perhaps felps

Very happy for try if this is true, he is by a huge margin the best SA awp, good mentality, pretty smart, deeply talented and has big window to grow. If it happens, imperial can actually be competitive in tier1 with an impact awper. Also, he is going to reunite with zakk, his mentor and his father figure in the scene alongside bit1, so i'm pretty sure he is going to be confortable in Imperial surrounded by the other youngsters too. Hyped to see him perform in the server again!
