HLTV forums receive substantial update

Several new features have been implemented to improve the HLTV forum experience. Let's take a look at them.

Steam verification

The biggest change in a series of updates to the HLTV forums is the implementation of Steam verification. To post anywhere outside of the 'Off topic' sub-forum, users are now required to connect their Steam account to their HLTV account in the profile settings.

HLTV only stores the SteamID and no other information about the linked account.

Users who filled in their official PGL Major Copenhagen Pick'Ems through the HLTV website earlier this year already have their Steam accounts linked.

Off topic filter

Posts from the 'Off topic' sub-forum no longer show up on the front page by default. Users can enable them if they so wish through a new setting that now shows up below the 'Sport Mode' toggle.

+1 feature

A new feature has been implemented that allows users to react to forum posts and replies with the '+1' button. This does not change the order in which you see posts or replies.

User blocking expanded

Users could previously use the block feature to prevent unwanted users from messaging them. This has now been expanded so that users will no longer see forum posts and replies created by other users that they have blocked.

User tagging

Finally, users can now be tagged in posts and replies. The tagged user will receive a notification, but this can be turned off at the bottom of profile settings.
