The coach's time in ENCE ends just shy of a year after joining.

The skipper will not be with the team at ESL Pro League

ENCE has announced that skipper Jakub "⁠kuben⁠" Gurczyński, who has been on the team's books since November 2023, will no longer stand behind the team.

Virtus.pro's former coach during the organization's glory days was signed by ENCE after spending a year in Apeks, a team he took to the BLAST.tv Paris Major semi-finals against all odds.

The Polish skipper was part of ENCE's miracle run at IEM Katowice. After losing four of the players who had helped the organization to second place in the world ranking at the turn of the year, kuben and Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander led a Polish-majority squad to play in front of the home crowd at the Spodek for the first time since kuben's Virtus.pro in 2016.

That early honeymoon didn't last, however, and ENCE have since dropped outside of the top 20 with no strong finishes online or on LAN. They were most recently knocked out of the PW Shanghai Major Europe RMR Closed Qualifier, meaning the Finnish organization will miss a Major for the first time since 2018.

To add insult to injury, the death blow was dealt by former ENCE players Paweł "⁠dycha⁠" Dycha and Olek "⁠hades⁠" Miskiewicz, with the latter going on a tear in the series' opening map scoring a 21-2 K-D and a 2.27 rating.

"kuben has a clear vision of his craft and playstyle, and unfortunately, we weren’t able to align it with ours," says ENCE's GM, Niklas "Willkey" Ojalainen.

"This of course leads us now to seek a new direction, to find someone who sees the game in a similar way as our players want to play it. I personally want to thank kuben for his time with us, and I truly hope he finds the team where his vision can do wonders."

kuben has been removed from the active roster with immediate effect and will not stand behind the team at the coming ESL Pro League Season 20, where they are slated in Group D and are set to kick off on September 10 with a series against Liquid.

ENCE is currently searching for a new head coach, although even if they find someone before EPL he will not be allowed to stand behind the team due to the tournament's roster lock.

They need to kick rest of the poles and gla1ve and build around sdy and give few months to podi with a team that isn't filled with 0.9 rating tier 2 players and outdated igl, maybe he can develop if not cut him too

Look at kuben’s coaching history and try not to laugh, after vp g5 all failures outside of one apeks’ fluke run. He is the true paycheck stealer.

Look at gla1ve achievements outside of when he had at least top2 players in each position on his team, look at the polish duo achievements and stats outside of the fluke major run

he is not a scapegoat, he imposes the team's style of play and then they play shit and both sides suck without any aggression, an overrated coach who has his brand thanks to VP, was thrown out of the apeks for a reason despite such a success as the semi-final of the major

He is. There is a diffrence between washed players and players who don't wanna be there at all and ENCE players are the latter. The only one I expect to hit the ground running is sdy cause he endured both s1mple and B1ad3 so. As for Goofy he should honestly retire the diffrence between 2022 Goofy and ENCE Goofy is so huge its like you put prime 2014 byali vs end of the road HUNDEN its fuckin embarrasing how much he fell off Kylar should join Illuminar tbh so he can recover in tier3 slowly gla1ve will do what he'll want to Podi will remain fo sho with a diffrent team built around him

The only part thats contradcting is Goofy statement. But with Goofy it goes both ways its both him falling off and kubens fault cause before kuben he already wasn't spectacular but a player thats clutch nonetheless, and in ENCE he was only getting worse where he should flourish under kuben specifically, and he didn't he began to fall off harder. Is it possible he may come back to better form? No, at this point playing under kuben left a dent in him. I don't blame gla1ve here cause from interviews you could've easily seen how excited the guy was to play with gla1ve. As for Kylar statement, brother joining Illuminar for him is like vacation And as for podi, he will remain there cause he's Finnish

Probably kuben+gl4ive combo didn't work. After all relationship between coach and igl is the most important combo in teams. If that combo doesn't work at all = no success.

It's honestly really sad what happens to all IEM Dallas winners. Not winning anything else since, IGL changes, roster shuffles on the verge of disbanding and getting permanently out of T1. First C9 then ENCE. Now it will slowly happen to G2. So sad.

Dang, Kuben is such a mystery. His teams do enjoy some major successes, but then drop off. In interviews, he seems to be very confident and also knowledgable, but he gets benched constantly. I don't know what to think of him.

There nothing like liking or disliking, he is just not a good coach he is not able to get them out of tense situations, bring new strat, all his time with COL they were mid at best, COL only improved when elige joined, floppy kind of found his form back as well, they need a better coach kuben, also +Stanislaw, +mantuu
