Twistzz and company will travel to Rio in October after winning the North American closed qualifier.

Liquid beat Legacy in a rematch to win the IEM Rio spot

Liquid have won the IEM Rio North America closed qualifier to secure a spot at the $250,000 competition taking place on October 7-13.

The team traveled to North America to take part in the qualifier despite normally residing in Europe, and were heavy favorites to grab the single Rio spot on offer in the competition also featuring Legacy, LAG and FLUFFY AIMERS.

A loss to Legacy in the upper bracket made it a more difficult road than anticipated, but two one-sided wins over FLUFFY AIMERS and a comfortable rematch against the Brazilians in the grand final ensured Liquid's qualification.

Following the win, Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken took to X to say it's "amazing that we add to our calendar for the rest of the season." Liquid now have at least three events to attend before the Perfect World Shanghai Major RMRs take place in November, adding to ESL Pro League Season 20 and BLAST Premier Fall Final.

I was so ready to see them repeat the first part of the season but so far, they are performing when it matters. Losing to Legacy sucks but they are a solid team on their own.
