FalleN denied coldzera to become the fourth team to advance out of a tough Group D in Malta.
FURIA are the final team to advance to ESL Pro League's playoffs after defeating RED Canids for the second time this week.
It's FURIA's second LAN playoffs since adding Felipe "skullz" Medeiros and international backroom staff, with the squad showing gradual improvement in their new style — one far more reflective of the tier one template.
Marcelo "coldzera" David's RED Canids squad impressed in wins over ENCE and Falcons but came unstuck against Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and company, first in the mid bracket and now in Group D's fourth-place decider.
Yuri "yuurih" Santos was the key man for FURIA all series long, capping Anubis with a fine 1v3 clutch at map point, and top-fragging on Nuke as he marshalled Yard in FURIA's near-flawless defensive half. Old friend and sidekick Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato was also in good form with 100 ADR over the two-map affair.
The story of the rematch was that of FURIA accelerating in the second halves of both Anubis (7-1), which FURIA lost 13-1 during their first meeting, and Nuke (9-1) to seal RED Canids' fate.
"Another factor for the 13-1 is that, because I'm still new to IGLing on Anubis, I did too much micro-management," FalleN explained on the couch after the win. "The biggest lesson we learned was to chill a bit more, I think I did a much better job today. We also brought new strategies, like an A rush they wouldn't expect."
