FaZe eliminate Falcons from Fall Final to secure playoff berth

Snappi was denied the chance to play in front of the Danish crowd in Copenhagen for the first time.

Falcons have become the first team to get eliminated from BLAST Premier Fall Final after they were defeated by FaZe in a three-map series in the Group A lower bracket.

The two Danish in-game leaders, as well as Falcons's trio of Emil "⁠Magisk⁠" Reif, Peter "⁠dupreeh⁠" Rasmussen and Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen had a lot on the line in this match, as it would send the winner to the arena in front of the local fans in Copenhagen.

Falcons turned around a slow start on their Nuke pick, trailing by four after their T side, but brought it back all the way to the final round of regulation. Álvaro "⁠SunPayus⁠" García had a particularly good map, although he and his teammates were denied overtime by Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants in a final round Lobby crunch.

The series turned to Ancient, where once again the two teams were embroiled in a close affair. This time Falcons had the upper hand to close out the map, but a late surge brought FaZe back from a two round deficit to force overtime.

The map became a brawl between the two sides, with a lot of misplays and individuals stepping up to make the difference — particularly Pavle "⁠Maden⁠" Bošković —, and it was Falcons after three sets of extra rounds who forced the series decider.

Both teams were neck and neck on Dust2 as the first half ended 6-6, but Falcons ran out of steam on the T side as Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard and broky put up fantastic performances in a clean 7-0 sweep in the second half to close the map out 13-6 and end the series.

zonic did not hold back after the stream, stating in his post-match interview on the broadcast that it is clear that the team needs to make changes. Not a surprise, amid reports of the team set to sign Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač after the PW Shanghai Major, but still telling of the team's general situation with ongoing struggles in making tangible progress.

FaZe have secured a spot in the playoffs with this victory, starting in the quarter-finals as a third seed, which they will play when the event moves to the arena at Forum Copenhagen on Friday. They will play the loser of Vitality vs. Liquid.
