Perfect World confirm opening RMR matchups

European viewers will need to be up early to catch all the RMR action.

Perfect World has confirmed the opening matchups for the Shanghai Major RMRs, which align with the article released yesterday by HLTV. The matchups were determined following Valve's October 15 Regional Standings update, in line with the Major supplemental rulebook.

Valve releases final ranking update before Shanghai Major RMRs

Those in Europe wishing to follow all the RMR action, particularly the Europe and Americas RMRs, will be in for some early starts as the first round of games are set to start at 06:00 CET.

Perfect World also stated in the announcement that ticket information for Shanghai Major would be released soon.

The RMRs will take place November 11-24, starting with Asia and ending with Europe. The Europe and Americas RMRs will utilize a 16-team, BO1 Swiss System format to determine Major berths, with progression and elimination matches being BO3. Asia will utilize an eight-team, double-elimination bracket, where only the opening matches are BO1.

Fourteen teams from the Europe RMRs, seven from the Americas RMR and three from the Asia RMR will progress to the Major. The top eight European squads will head straight to the Elimination Stage, while the rest will start their journey in the Opening Stage.

The opening RMR matchups are as follows:

First thing EU ppl do is complain about times whenever it's not 5-8pm GMT games. The rest of us don't complain about big event finals being at 4am! Just catch up on the games you are interested in

You are being unfair when you say that, my friend. If the competitions are in Europe and the matches are at 1:00 PM / 2:00 PM or 4:00 PM, it means that people in AMERICA can watch them, but so can those in ASIA, because in America it would be -7 hours in the farthest region (San Francisco) and -4 hours in the nearest region (New York), while in ASIA it would be +8 hours in Shanghai, for example. Therefore, they could also watch the matches. But when a Major is held in ASIA or AMERICA, the other two continents suffer directly because, if a match is at 3:00 PM in Shanghai, in Europe it would be 8:00 AM, and in the USA it would be 4:00 AM or 1:00 AM. Isn't that a bit strange? I suggest you think with your brain, because that's what you have it for. Okay? And no, I'm not a hater, because I actually want to go to the Major in Shanghai, but the problem there is also access. Not much English is spoken, you need a visa, etc. Also, what do we do about the audience? Did you see how empty the stands were in Rio when the Brazilian teams were eliminated from the tournament? I hope you watched the IEM Rio Final and saw that. Did you see that in Antwerp, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Katowice, Cologne, or London? I don't think so. Again, think with that brain of yours, because that's why you have a head—not just to keep the rain from going down your throat. Good luck!

Not really. It is not a good time for we Chinese, too. at 1 PM,most of us are sleeping for work or study in afternoon.I would like watch a game in Copenhagen at 4 AM and almost all CS game begin after 11 PM in china time zone.I think i only want watch game at night, even at midnight. And Russia borders on China. Many Chinese think Russia is half an Aisan country. these games may be too early for them.

In the West, both in Europe and the USA, it’s not customary to sleep at work or in school. And seriously, do you have 10 years to take afternoon naps? Europe, being between the USA and ASIA/AFRICA in terms of time zones, is the best option for hosting a major event, as all continents would have access to the matches, not just one or two. Everyone is at work by 07:00 or 08:00 AM, but also by 3:00 PM.

In Chinese, most people have a short sleep after lunch, especially in South China. Can you image?I could have 2 hour at noon in highschool so I slept 1 hour after lunch everyday. Highschool life may be the most busy period in my life.My school life begin at 7 AM and end at 10 PM.And I need to study until 11:30 PM to keep a good grade. That is terrible. Chinese ppl really need a short sleep at noon for long-time work or study.

Talon would only beat Alter Ego or maybe GR anyway, so it doesn't really matter. I'd say more a good thing that FQ don't have a very difficult first match. Only have to beat RA after that and they are in.

You are. They changed the first rounds. Last major was working like that as well if I remember correctly. It's now 1vs9 2vs10 3vs11 4vs12 5vs13 6vs14 7vs15 8vs16

so what is the logic behind this? To get more competitive matches or to give weak teams a chance?
2024-10-16 15:04

Probably both. Less stomps is more interesting to watch and weak teams are not as fucked, because second round is also 1vs5 2vs6 3vs7 4vs8 So even some strong team failing does not automatically mean that the lowest seeded team is fucked twice right into 0-2

The idea is to reduce flukes, beginning with this seeding makes the last few matches more likely to be good team vs bad team when buscholts seeding kicks in, ofc it's theoretical, but worked well last major.

At least if I planned to work from home those days, it would be okay to follow along on the tv while working. Still, Kind of a bad time if you want high viewership from around the world. Still it will be kinda dope to watch this play out, so many variables and no clear #1 We have been graced with some awesome games recently, and I hope we will get the same this time around.
