Complexity qualify for Shanghai Major

M80 will have once last chance to make the Major in the 2-2 pool decider.

Complexity beat M80 2-0 on Anubis (13-8) and Vertigo (13-9) to qualify for the Perfect World Shanghai Major's Opening Stage.

Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski and company made it in four matches, with their other victories against BESTIA and BOSS, and the only loss coming in the 2-0 pool at the hands of MIBR.

"We have a pretty good chance, we’ve been playing pretty good in practice," Michael "⁠Grim⁠" Wince said of their Major prospects on the broadcast interview after the match. "We’ve said in some interviews that we’ve been playing some of the best we have all year in some of our opinions, and I agree.

"We had some mess-ups in the RMR trying to qualify, but now that the stress is gone and we qualified for the Major we can go full forward focusing on getting better."

The 2-1 series kicked off on Anubis, where Complexity were in a good spot from the start as they secured six rounds on the CT side. EliGE and Håkon "⁠hallzerk⁠" Fjærli each had five multi-kill rounds and broke the 20 frag threshold as they cruised to a 13-8 victory on the attack.

Complexity's Vertigo, which could be their silver bullet in vetoes, has been shaky after they lost it to MIBR, and even though they won it against M80 there is room for improvement as Johnny "⁠JT⁠" Theodosiou's men failed to convert four times on a total of nine opening kills in the first half and trailed 5-7 at the switch.

In the end, Complexity reined in the brawly match, which had been full of swing rounds — there were even four glock kills in gun rounds —, and settled it on the CT side to win out 13-9 and secure qualification.

M80 aren't out of the competition yet and despite their loss today they only tally two losses, so they will take part in the final day's last chance saloon decider matches.
