FURIA send 9z packing from Americas RMR, Imperial qualify

MartinezSa tried his best, but could not carry a disjointed 9z.

FURIA have secured a victory over 9z to continue their journey in Shanghai, besting their counterparts 2-0 with wins on Anubis (13-8) and Dust2 (13-10). FURIA now have a qualification bout against M80 ahead of them, whilst 9z head home empty-handed.

Imperial also found themselves celebrating FURIA's win, as it secured a Major berth for Imperial without them needing to play a decider series.

"Disjointed" and "uninspired" were the two words repeatedly used by the broadcast team to describe 9z's performance, and they were apt. The South American squad were far too reliant on individual plays to find round wins, with Antonio "⁠MartinezSa⁠" Martinez the only man consistently finding success.

FURIA meanwhile were better coordinated as a team and enjoyed more individual success overall. The Brazilians picked 9z apart with methodical defaults on the T side, and put up regular multi-kill holds on CT to ensure relatively smooth sailing.

The pressure seemed to affect 9z more than FURIA and was a big factor in the series, 9z missed grenades and fumbled straightforward kills with regularity. Considering 9z's slide throughout the latter half of the year, it is unsurprising that the weight of the occasion affected them so much.
