ECLOT send Sangal crashing out of Europe RMR

LNZ's team bows out of the RMR after tallying less than six rounds in three of their last four maps.

ECLOT have kept their Perfect World Shanghai Major dreams alive and, in turn, ended the aspirations of Sangal after a two-map series in the 1-2 elimination pool.

Linus "⁠LNZ⁠" Holtäng's squad endured a miserable RMR campaign where they barely showed a glimpse of the team that went 3-0 in the RMR closed qualifier and won three online titles in the summer, tallying six or fewer rounds across three of their last four maps in Shanghai.

Sangal: From outsiders to Shanghai Major hopefuls

Despite starting off on the right foot with a win over Rebels, the team crumbled entirely once the pressure was on and barely put up a fight against MOUZ (3-13) and Cloud9 (2-13) to end up in the elimination pool against ECLOT.

The Czech squad finished as runners-up in two online competitions, Winline Insight Season 6 and European Pro League Season 20, just one week before the RMR, but didn't have the same trouble translating that to offline play in Shanghai.

They suffered an overtime loss to Falcons in their opener, came back from a 4-11 deficit to beat GamerLegion, and lost in a domestic matchup to SINNERS before now outclassing Sangal on Anubis (13-10) and Mirage (13-6) to give themselves a fighting chance at a Major spot.

Vít "⁠nbqq⁠" Pohlot's dominance played a large part in the victory, but Rasmus "⁠kreaz⁠" Johansson and Martin "⁠Dytor⁠" Handl both contributed with impact rounds to make this as much of a runaway as it was. Anubis was not as close as the scoreline might suggest, with Sangal posting ten only after a last-ditch comeback effort.

ECLOT opened up by exploiting Yasin "⁠xfl0ud⁠" Koç on A before returning to that fight late into the half for a 7-5 lead, and converted back-to-back disadvantages in the second half to hit double digits before recovering from a Samet "⁠jottAAA⁠" Köklü 1v3 clutch to steal the map.

jottAAA and xfl0ud ended the map 1:6 and 1:7 in opening duels, respectively, and the latter's woes continued on Mirage as he was 0-9 before finally getting on the board before the halftime switch.

Simon "⁠yxngstxr⁠" Boije and jottAAA couldn't pull their team out of the hole as ECLOT mounted an 8-4 lead at the break and wasted little time in bringing the series to an end, dominating thanks to winning all three clutches and a 22-11 K-D and 1.76-rated showing from nbqq.
