NAVI qualify for the Shanghai Major

If FaZe slip up NAVI could play the fourth-place decider.

jL says the team wasn't at their best coming into the RMR

Natus Vincere have secured their spot at the Perfect World Shanghai Major with a dominant 2-0 display against SAW, and are now waiting for FaZe vs. fnatic and Falcons vs. GamerLegion.

If FaZe and Falcons win their matches, Natus Vincere will have to play the fourth-place decider. Otherwise, they will be going straight to the Major's Elimination Stage.

"This bootcamp was one of the worst ones, for sure," Justinas "jL" Lekavicius said on the broadcast after the match when asked about the team's form coming into the RMR. "We didn't have a lot of time, the efficiency wasn't there. We had some issues at the bootcamp, but we have a lot of time.

"We made the Major now. We'll have a couple weeks, or ten days, while the RMR B finishes and [more] if we make it to the Elimination Stage. Hopefully teams want to practice us while we're here. Now we know where we're at and what we need to work on."

Despite jL's words about the team not being in their best form coming into the RMR, especially with their last-place finish at the BLAST World Final, Natus Vincere cleared the qualifying tournament with a 3-1 record and their only loss at the hands of MOUZ.

The series against SAW was a dominant one for Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy's men, who didn't need to pull out any fancy tricks on Nuke to take the Portuguese squad's pick 13-10, a score that could betray the fact that NAVI were in control throughout.

On Ancient there was never a question of which way it would go. SAW won two loose rounds on the CT side, but never posed a threat as Natus Vincere cruised to a 13-2 victory.

The Portuguese squad is not out yet after, as they have been knocked down to the 2-2 pool and will continue to fight for a spot in the Opening Stage.

I thought the first 4 teams go to the elimination stage and NaVi are top4 regardless of FaZe's result, what am I missing?

Buchholz difficulty score, it giveth and taketh. Only if both FaZe and Falcons win are NaVi forced to play the tiebreaker with the 2nd best Buchholz score against C9 with 3rd best of all 3-1 teams.

Yeah unlike PGL, Perfect World decided we needed deciders again for this instead of using VRS EU Standings at the end of the RMR, don't ask me why.

Faze having better Bukholz that Navi and C9 due to C9 beating Sinners which increased Faze's Bukholz at the expense of Navi's Bukholz (Faze played C9 which are 3-1 now, Navi played Sinners which are 2-2 now)

@LucasAM Just a quick heads up: NaVi are through in 3 out of 4 scenarios to the Elimination Stage: FaZe + Falcons win --> FaZe auto bye, NaVi - C9 Tiebreaker FaZe + GamerLegion win --> NaVi auto bye, FaZe - C9 Tiebreaker Fnatic + Falcons win --> NaVi auto bye, Fnatic - C9 Tiebreaker Fnatic + GamerLegion win --> NaVi auto bye, Fnatic - C9 Tiebreaker Highlighting that FaZe and GL scenario, NaVi would be +3 as would be FaZe but the higher initial seeding for NaVi would be the kicker, giving NaVi the auto bye and FaZe - C9 a meeting later tonight.

I’m confused, I thought 3-1 means automatic qualification what is this bullshit new system? So navi will have to play again for the spot if faze wins today and falcons go 3-2?

It's only for direct spot at 2nd stage of major, they already made it to opening stage at minimum.

The 2 2-0 teams (Mouz and Vitality) are straight to the Elimination stage (it was named Legends in the past). 2 of the 3-1 teams also go there and the third 3-1 team only qualifies for the Opening Stage (named Contenders in the past). So the 3-1 team with the highest Buchholz score will go through while the other two will fight for the other spot.

Basically, what we had for Antwerp, Rio and Paris were these 4th place deciders. All the 3-1 teams would have their difficulty score (Buchholz) analyzed after all the 2-1 and 1-2 games have taken place. Whoever had the best score would go through automatically and the other two played a BO3 decider, loser went to what was then Challengers (now Opening Stage) and winner went to Legends (now Elimination Stage). We had this in the Americas too when they had one Legends Stage spot, 3-0 teams would play a decider for the bye. PGL scrapped those deciders in favor of using the VRS Standings to apply for seeding in Copenhagen, meaning any team last major (7 EU, 1 AM in playoffs in Paris --> 7 EU, 1 AM bye to Elim Stage in Copenhagen) that qualified from EU and the Americas, the best 7 EU and the top Americas team got a bye. That's why Col got the bye instead of FURIA because they were still #1 in Americas off of their Sydney and BLAST runs at the end of 2023 while FURIA were in the dumps.

It is. It's just that there is 4 spots for the Legends stage and 5 teams that are 3-0 and 3-1. Now, 2 3-0 teams not making it to later stage is just silly, so we are left with 2 spots and 3 3-1 teams. One of them has to go the earlier stage, right? So 1 team goes further for having better buchholz (or initial seeding, if buchholz is the same), and the other 2 play for the last spot for later stage.

As it should be. Navi's victory is good for the scene cuz they have good tactics and teamplay, they are playing good CS.

Now imagine if they get a good bootcamp in as well. AleksiB2B sounds like a very good idea.
