BetBoom bench nafany and KaiR0N- after RMR failure

The Russian team is in for a roster overhaul after the disappointing run in Shanghai.

nafany and KaiR0N- have been on BetBoom since July 2023

BetBoom have removed Vladislav "⁠nafany⁠" Gorshkov and Aleksandr "⁠KaiR0N-⁠" Anashkin from the roster and placed the duo on the transfer list, the Russian organization announced on Tuesday. The decision comes in the wake of the team's failed qualifying run for the Shanghai Major.

BetBoom finished the EU RMR A tournament in eighth place, missing out on a spot at the Major after losing to GamerLegion in a nerve-racking seventh-place decider. It was the second significant setback suffered this year by the Russian team, who had also failed in qualifying for the Copenhagen Major.

nafany and KaiR0N- have been in BetBoom's ranks since July 2023, when the Russian organization entered Counter-Strike. The duo's benching leaves Pavel "⁠S1ren⁠" Ogloblin and Aleksandr "⁠zorte⁠" Zagodyrenko as the only remaining players of the original lineup after Danil "⁠danistzz⁠" Roslyakov was replaced by Kirill "⁠Magnojez⁠" Rodnov in March.

"The first thing I would like to say is thank you to the team and the guys I played with," KaiR0N- said in a statement posted on X. "There were joyful and difficult moments, and we were able to get through despite all the difficulties.

"I believe that I have grown mentally over the past year. This was evident in many tournaments in the second half of the season. Towards the end of the season it was a really hard time, especially after the tournament in Atlanta, which brought a change in many roles that affected me and my performance, as well as the team.

"Unfortunately, our goal of reaching the Major was not achieved, which obviously entailed changes."

In a gym head it’s almost perfect, it’s free, until his original contract ends they will pay him rookie salary as he made in academy and best of all, hypes spirit so much, which boosts viewership, following on social media and shirt sales … As a gm this is a must happen move, from a team point of view maybe not the best

The fact that Astralis relevant media-wise is only reason they still not disbanded, they should thank god for golden roster that gave them fans that still for some reason support them. second part of their "relevance" is huge base of haters who watch with hopes of astralis loosing. I can assure you, if they could trade this kind of attention for actual RESULTS they would do it. they have no media strategy and it completely not comparable to Spirit. Now about Falcons, if as you're saying S1mple brings that much media, why arent they continuing with him? Absolutely not true. Kyousuke is seen playing a lot of lurk/anchor positions and being pretty versatile. And with being so young, he can adapt and learn new styles pretty quickly. He can very much fill for magixx and take over lurk roles and magixx support/fighting roles on places like A site. Especially on Nuke.

It's different to play faceit than playing with a team, assigned roles, IGL, structure. You can out-aim donk in faceit 1v1 in a couple of scenarios, that doesn't mean anything. T2 scene is just way more random because the teams are more or less on the same level and still improving, the question is who's improving faster

I think Mayo should stay as IGL for now and they should get someone that gives firepower to the team + there were obviously bad vibes in the team if Nafany dropped calling one month before RMR. I don't follow CIS scene THAT closely, but Jerry couldn't even control a stream team; I don't think he is the right choice for BetBoom that has potential. Mayo is BBs biggest asset and he could be like Twistzz if stars align, so BB should keep pushing this direction forward.

Has Magnojez been calling? I think they should give him more freedom and rather assign the igl role to a player solely devoted to it. I dont follow the cis scene closely either so I have no idea which Russian-speaking igls are good for the level of BB, I just know Jerry has played with a few of these players and he has the experience of calling in higher tiers, that this team might need. Even so, I dont think he is the most suited player for the role, but orgs like these often do not make the most sensible decision, especially those looking for quick and short-term results.

AFAIK, there are pretty much no new IGLs in the scene except alpha (as someone mentioned + he is not for sale), so its better to nurture Mayo. And yes, he was calling the entire month. So what's the long-term profit here for BB? Invest more resources into Mayo and make him a better player overall, or get someone like jerry who is not relevant anymore and can't be sold later. There are way more strong riflers than IGLs in CIS scene, so its just more cost-effective short/long-term to focus on bringing a good rifle in. We'll see soon though, but I hope its not Jerry or some other washed IGL.
