Lucaozy getting a sticker instead of brnz4n was a clerical error.

brnz4n was submitted in MIBR's original roster

Valve is set to fix a clerical mistake made by Perfect World, the Chinese tournament organizer told HLTV, which ended up with MIBR's substitute, Lucas "⁠Lucaozy⁠" Neves, getting his autograph in the sticker capsules for the Shanghai Major. Instead, MIBR's benched player, Breno "⁠brnz4n⁠" Poletto, will get a sticker of his own.

This change is in line with the rest of the substituted players in the same situation, as Andreas "⁠aNdu⁠" Maasing, Aurélien "⁠afro⁠" Drapier, and Ilya "⁠Perfecto⁠" Zalutskiy have stickers for the upcoming Major even though Sebastian "⁠Tauson⁠" Tauson Lindelof, Tim "⁠nawwk⁠" Jonasson, and Timofey "⁠interz⁠" Yakushin will be playing in Shanghai.

The blow will at least come somewhat softer for Lucaozy, as his name won't be erased entirely from CS when the change is made since he already had stickers from the BLAST.tv Paris Major.

brnz4n will have his name immortalized in the game despite not playing any games during the Shanghai Major's cycle when his stickers replace Lucaozy's in the client.

Depends. Sometimes a substituted player had a big impact for the team to qualify for the RMR's and the team decide to bench him

What you helped won some points and get to RMR but the main thing to get to major is go through RMRs and none of the players mentioned above played it Perfecto last match april and aNdu, afro and brnz4n all played last matches for their teams in spetember I would understand you if there would be case where player played RMR qualified and then got kicked or somehow had to leave because of illness or something but those dudes only played in team before RMRs especially Perfecto whose last match for c9 was half a year ago!

It may seem stupid now, but it's a preventative measure against shady practices. If this rule didn't exist and a team exploited it there would be a much bigger controversy. At the end of the day the teams know what the rules are and will have to deal with it themselves.

Just give the stickers to players who played at the RMR with the roster, its not that hard to fix, and now we will have a event based sticker of a player that will not have a single map played at the event or even qualifier to that event

rest of the missing stickers? So every sub? doesnt seem fair to the players that they need to split money with so many extra players, and if you dont mean all subs just the ones that played then what happens if one subs in in the middle of the major? Valve just patch in a new sticker every few days? The current ruling is obviously the most logical one, even if it feels bad for the subs that are currently playing, but thats up to the teams to change so close to the major and use subs instead of finalized rosters

In my view, the rule should be that whoever actively participates in the RMRs and contributes to getting that team to the major should be getting the sticker.

I think thats a reasonable position but still what about if that player is subbed out due to illness and someone else plays during the major itself? Or if the RMR games are split between 2 players. It stops loopholes and unfairness by simply saying substitutes dont get stickers, its up to teams then to finalize their rosters before the deadline

If a player is subbed during the RMR, I think both the subbed out and the sub should get the sticker. Of course there should be a rule that only one sub is allowed a sticker. If a player is subbed out during the actual major, the stickers are already in place, the player that played the RMR should get it. Atleast to me, it sounds reasonable. The current system benefits paycheck stealers like benchfecto.

yeah, reminds me a lot of last major with the whole 9pandas situation. One the one hand it would be nice if those you feel are deserving of stickers can get them but on the other it also makes sense to stay consistent and simply say the submitted lineups that make it to the major get stickers

The current system also benefits players like Br0 or Sunpayus who got unfairly kicked by their team. Valve have always been more player focused so they want to protect players from their orgs as much as possible. The issue with the subs is that once you are part of a main team for the major qualifiers, you can't go to another team anymore and play the major cycle with them, so if teams constantly sub out a player last minute then they rob that player from the ability to qualify for the major with another team, which is why Valve still gives these players their stickers to soften the blow.

Yeah Perfecto's case is breaking that rule a little bit because all he did for C9 to make the major is stay on the bench so that they could sign him up as part of the main roster to immediately sub him out. Which is unfair to his replacement that doesn't get stickers now. But I think giving a player that is out of the team the sticker is generally better than if that player who got kicked by their team got nothing, at least the substitute still has a job as part of the main squad and plays at the major.

I am gonna react here for two of your comments 1. I am on your side and rule has holes in it but it isnt just bad thing to have it in #32 how br0 or Sunpayus got "unfairly kicked"? They were replaced nothing unfair about it just team decided to make change for me unfairly kicked would be lets say after RMRs or something but not 2 months before #37 It would make sense to give sticker to Interz for sure but on the other hand it somehow makes sense for me that if perfecto wouldnt be on roster there would be no stickers for whole c9 as they wouldnt play RMR. I think players went into teams with information that if they qulify they wont get stickers Lastly I just think they could have rosters locked like it was but just put into rule that stickers go to main roster in RMRs maybe first day of RMRs if there would be somebody ill or something than unfortunately sub wont have stickers but it feels bad that you play the main part of qualifying for major and wont get stickers

Yeah, "unfairly kicked" was bad phrasing by me. What I meant is players that were/are good enough to qualify for a major that get benched during the major cycle which disqualifies them from trying to play at the major for this major cycle. They weren't kicked unfairly per se, it was just that they're good enough to play in a team that qualifies for the major and they were kicked for reasons out of their control. As for the second part yeah, Perfecto was part of the lineup that earned them enough points for the major cycle and they wouldn't be able to even try to play for the major at all if it wasn't for him. There are good arguments to make for both Perfecto and for Interz, but I think the current system tends to be more fair across the board. Your last point is luckily academic anyways because Valve plans to remove RMRs altogether and invite teams based on Valve ranking so we don't really have to think too much about that))

if you dont play, you shouldnt get stickers, doesnt matter if its a noname player or a starplayer. same would have happened with falcons IF they made it, s1mple wouldnt have gotten stickers despite playing (and carrying) while sunpayus, on the bench, would have gotten stickers. thats just stupid and makes no sense to me.
