3DMAX came out the right side of a 13-11 match to reach the 1-1 pool over the Brazilians.
HEROIC are the fourth and final team to win both best-of-ones on day one of the Elimination stage in Shanghai after beating FaZe 13-8.
The Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski-led squad were in control for the vast majority of Ancient, aside from some flashes from Håvard "rain" Nygaard — who saved FaZe versus Wildcard earlier today — on the Deagle.
It sends FaZe to the increasingly dangerous 1-1 pool, with Spirit, G2, and Natus Vincere all sitting on the same record at the end of day one.

On the B stream, 3DMAX recovered from their 11-13 loss to MIBR by beating paiN 13-11 themselves in a clutch-heavy chaotic brawl on Dust2.
Pierre "Ex3rcice" Bulinge and Lucas "Lucky" Chastang both won key 1v2 clutches down the stretch, the latter punishing a strange Lucas "nqz" Soares decision at 12-11 for the map and match.
It was a good match for Lucky throughout, who had an incredible 1.51-rated RMR and returned to that form here after struggling versus MIBR earlier.
