ultimate's struggles cost Liquid vs. The MongolZ
The Polish sniper managed a mere 9 AWP kills and made several costly mistakes as Liquid fell to the lower bracket in Katowice.

The MongolZ have sent Liquid down to the lower bracket at IEM Katowice, clinching a hard-fought 2-1 series victory to do so.
Fantastic performances by Guy "NertZ" Iluz and Keith "NAF" Markovic ensured Liquid clinched the first map of Nuke, despite a sub-40 ADR performance by their teammate Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak.
It wasn't entirely smooth sailing for Liquid, they threw several advantageous rounds and occasionally over-complicated mid-round scenarios, but their firepower was not to be denied.
Mirage went the way of The MongolZ, with ultimate making two mistakes early doors that granted the Mongolians a healthy 8-4 offensive half, which proved too much for Liquid to overcome.
Ancient was a hard-fought affair that came right down to the wire, with The MongolZ calling a timely A rush into an empty bombsite in the final round to seal the series.
ultimate endures rough series
Questions have been asked of ultimate since he joined Liquid, as the Pole took a drastic step up from his previous team to join tier-one CS. Whilst he has shown flashes of potential, he has also struggled for consistency and for regular strong performances against top sides.
Today, ultimate had a series he would do well to put quickly behind him, as he was a significant factor in Liquid walking away with a loss. He was completely anonymous on Nuke, made two crucial mistakes early on Mirage, and again struggled to find impact for most of Ancient.
It is usually unfair to single out one player as the reason for a team's loss, but considering how close the series was, even a middling performance by ultimate would surely have reversed the result.
The MongolZ survive "shaky" start to 2025
Sodbayar "Techno" Munkhbold told James "BanKs" Banks after the game that he felt The MongolZ were "shaky" against Liquid, and that certainly was the case. The Mongolian squad at times showed the lightning-fast fragging and clever play that saw them break into the top 10 last year, but they started slowly in the series and never quite got into top gear.
Considering Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold is playing through an injury, The MongolZ should be satisfied with their victory. Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch was in prime form on Mirage in particular, coming up with innumerable multi-kills and impact plays, and Ayush "mzinho" Batbold was a real difference-maker on the final map.
