Nouns to go unsalaried after funding proposal fails

After two funding proposals were defeated, the majority of Nouns are set to continue competing together without the organization's financial support.

Nouns made it to four RMRs, but never qualified for a Major

Nouns is set to stop funding their CS team after a proposal to fund the team through to BLAST.tv Austin Major was defeated.

Eric "adreN" Hoag told HLTV that the team intends to stick together with the exception of Gage "Infinite" Green, due to personal hardship that made him unable to commit to competing.

The team are set to participate in IEM Dallas and BLAST Rising qualifiers this week with a stand-in. They sought an emergency substitute for ESL Challenger League 49, but were denied their request. HLTV has reached out to ESL for comment as to why the sub was denied.

Nouns is a "decentralized autonomous organization," meaning its members, who purchase membership through "unique digital art pieces," vote on proposals to fund teams.

A proposal to fund Nouns and Nouns fe through 2025 had already been defeated, and so a second proposal was put forth to fund the men's team through to the Major in Austin. This second proposal was also defeated.

Nouns first entered CS in late 2022, and had since become a fixture of the NA scene, peaking at 33rd place in the HLTV world ranking late in 2023. The organization made it to four RMRs in their time in CS, but never qualified for a Major.

The roster who will continue to compete together are:

United States William "RUSH" Wierzba
United States Paytyn "junior" Johnson
United States Matthew "Cryptic" Whitmore
United States Jaxon "Peeping" Cornwell

United States Eric "adreN" Hoag (coach)

Not really. It's more of action-holding. NFTs are value in itself. Here you buy a "coupon" that allows you to manage something within.

As happy as I am for nouns time in the scene, I think nfts are pretty stupid and the loss of their cs team is going to have a lot less people caring about nouns as a whole.

Why didn't junior just buy 27 more Nouns NFTs and then vote yes, securing funding instantly?

Maybe if players would actually start to generate income (through marketing, promotion, streaming, event holding), then they would start giving them $.

It was already expected. The org had a very bad 2024 with many disappointments, it was difficult to convince the DAO to continue funding the team

it does seem like a very weird way to get the team funded through DAO to be fair.

Lost out on funding because one guy bought 36 votes to vote against the proposal, crazy that Nouns works like that. DAOs gotta be one of the biggest scams in crypto.

I would feel bad for them, but I watched Nouns' games for a while and I can safely say they hadn't improved one iota for the whole of 2024. They straight up played bad, braindead Counter-Strike. Granted I haven't seen any of their games with the new roster and I like these players, but if I were an org looking to pick up an North-American team I would stay faaaar away from this bunch until they prove themselves.

Funding an esports org (a notoriously poor financial decision of itself) through crypto and NFT's is outrageously stupid. I remember hearing the CEO talk about this on a podcast at some point and it sounded ridiculous then too. Not surprised but sad to see another NA org disappear into the aether.

C9 need to pick up nouns. Ez fix. Clearly nouns don't want to support their project and allow NA CS to die.

Infinite would rather leave Nouns because they won't pay him a salary and go back to... Where? Last x stacks since Wildcard have not paid a salary either, and had far worse potential
