B1ad3: "We made a lot of mistakes because of the stage"

"Players aren't planning together, they're just being chaotic," B1ad3 shared regarding NAVI's loss to Spirit.

B1ad3 believes there is much to learn from this loss to Spirit

After being eliminated from the BLAST Bounty Season 1 Finals by Spirit, Natus Vincere rebounded at IEM Katowice with a narrow win in the group stage over Leonid "chopper" Vishnyakov's side and beat The MongolZ to secure a direct berth to the semi-finals in Poland.

Natus Vincere and Spirit faced off yet again once in the Spodek, but this time NAVI found themselves on the back foot, ultimately faltering to the reigning Katowice champions after a 0-2 loss to bow out of the event.

Following his team's loss to Spirit, NAVI coach Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy spoke with HLTV regarding the ill-fated rematch, the impact of playing on stage, and how the team plans to prepare ahead of their next outing.

A close finish on Dust2, very close to a third map. Tell me about this finish and how it was watching the guys from behind.

It's tough. We were just playing bad situations, having nerves at the end, and not having plans. We need to plan a lot and basically players aren't planning something together, they're just constantly being chaotic, they don't know what to do in the late stage.

We spoke about one game plan, and eventually everyone is doing something that he feels is better to do, and they need to find synergy to do something together. I think maybe [it was] the pressure of the stage.

What about pressure of the opponent? Spirit have been a difficult opponent for you, you lost to them in Copenhagen, at the Major, and last year it was a rough track record as well. How much does it come down to that?

We never look at the opponent like this. We always see what they do in the game, analyze our game, and try and build a game plan. Since we were winning against them at least two times, at EPL and here, we know it's possible, so I don't think it's a problem. It's not some psychological thing. I think on Mirage and on Dust2 we made a lot of mistakes because of the stage, 100%.

How are you going to address this moving forward? Back-to-back semi-final finishes, back in Copenhagen you were quite happy with that being your first event in the season, but is having this result again disappointing?

No, we just learn from this, there's nothing we can do. We know our potential, we know what is stopping us from being good, and we just need to learn from this experience. There is nothing else.

Let's say we have one idea of what to do in the game for several games versus Spirit, and we're not doing this, but we did it last game in the group stage here, we can learn from this. People forget, we can reflect on this, then think next time on the next try with a new force.

We had big chances to win Mirage, Dust2, it's all about nerves and mistakes. They were also making mistakes, we were making mistakes, and I think at some point we need to come to the moment where we as a team are playing with more clarity in our heads. It's very hard, but we need to get there. Maybe it'll never be so easy to play, but to minimize mistakes as much as possible.

What is the plan ahead of Lisbon?

We will practice online, then go to Copenhagen. We will try to practice online for Copenhagen, upgrade our stratbook, on three or four maps with how much time we have, and we will come with a new force. I think we will come much stronger than this tournament, for sure.

Choppers answer seems more accurate. Nothing about the stage and more about the competition being so close no one wants to make risky plays which makes for some weird mistakes and rounds

You speak like you made it absolutely clear by using "+" instead of punctuation and proper sentencing. I will not go into details, as many people already explained you, that Navi is not a stage shy team. They had crowd behind them, along with recent match, which Navi won. Spirit was just better.

ofc bruh. If you've given speeches all your life, and one time you're invited to hold a speech in front of your country's president, you'd be anxious despite being already comfortable with giving speeches. It was the pressure of playing against Spirit + Spodek stage. It is what it is, sometimes anxiety can't be controlled that well. Nevertheless, they deserved to lose

and donk had six times that in each map on both sides. So magixx got 2. okay. Dude I watched those openers and there was nothing wrong with them. He deleted wonderful. But if you're actually making him out to be the difference maker, my boy you didn't watch the game. If donk played as "well" as magixx did, spirit would've lost both maps by a massive margin.

donk can play as he was but spirit would have lost the map if not for magixx. At some very crucial moments magixx opened up sites with donk in mid cutting rotations. Donk's impact is always felt but magixx's entries were king in OT and in that mini comeback in regulation You also have to keep in account that donk never really entries into a site. He trades his teammates damn well.

Okay man. Do yourself a favor, and watch spirit's game. Any game, on any map, and tell me that donk isn't pretty much every time either the first, or the second one in. That's spirits playbook most of the times. Now there are moments where someone occasionally gets past him when he's holding an angle for a split second but saying that he doesn't entry a site is just wild delulu. And yes a team needs 5 players and each one of those players occasionally gets important kills. But when one player has double the amount of kills compared to another player, they tend to be the more impactful one when it comes to winning games. Your argument was that magixx was the win condition. Now let's take that same match, but reduce donk's kills to match magixx. NaVi would've taken D2 easy. And yes while magixx's entries were important, donk eats, breathes and shits impactful entry kills all game long in every match they play, instead of just taking one or two.

if you are just a little experienced in CS, you'd know every round counts, regardless someone is doing 30/3 or 1/15. You also would know that everything isn't about stats... magixx REALLY did the difference and it's undeniable. Killing wonderful 2 times, in a very hard move to do, gave us 2 rounds in OT (or, reading in ur perspective, helped donk A LOT). are you going to say that zontix didn't make the difference in the first map? u probably also already said that magixx didn't made any difference in Shanghai major final

Magixx took great openers. -People are saying that Magixx was the difference maker. I simply corrected saying that if donk wasn't doing donk things throughout the match, Spirit would've lost way before ever reaching OT

u corrected no one, because each spirit player had good moments throughout the game. me, and everybody replying, isn't saying that donk isn't a difference maker. donk played very good, yes. but zontix guaranteed some rounds, also magixx, also shiro with 3 clutches. if any of them played so bad, you know what result we'd see. if any of these players had failed, spirit also would've lost before OT. donk is a godlike, but he doesnt play alone so stop with "iF dOnK wAsN't DoInG dOnK ThINgS tHeY HaD lOsT" so weird a """"26 years experienced dude"""" keep saying that an "one man army" carry all the shit. s1mple and zywoo should have 3 majors each for doing "s1mple things" or "zywoo things" by ur logic

No? That logic doesn't dictate anything else, except the fact that if there was any other player in donk's place, they wouldn't be competing for trophies. They weren't exactly a T1 team before sh1ro and donk arrived. So in spirit's case, the difference maker is donk. And another solid contributor is Sh1ro. No need to shed tears over it. You can sugarcoat it all you want, whenever once in a blue moon one of those other 3 decides to connect to the server and call it the "difference maker"

Slightly before Vitality - best preparation to have zywoo before Navi - best preparation to have s1mple. Even earlier Astralis is the best preparation to have a device Your comment and way of thinking is so funny )) Because you don't realize that there is a certain personality behind every team. he's saying his players didn't manage the stage pressure, this is criticism of the players, rather than the stage, lmfao. as to why they dropped the ball hard on map 1, this is not rocket science - it's their first map on stadium in many months. obviously it's going to be more rusty than if they had a comedy relief team like vp to warm up with the day before. as for map 2, that was fine team play - they just didn't hit a few important shots.

HLTV comments proving itself once again that it is the swamp of intellectual discussions. First, of course any team is going to feel pressure going up against a spirit team that has been on fire since the major, they're clearly the best team right now and it's not even close. Having an entire crowd cheering for you can definitely make the pressure worse, ESPECIALLY when you're losing. In my experience in sports, crowds are a buff when you're winning and playing hot, and a negative when you're going cold. Second, the crowd cheating was unacceptable behaviour, but NaVi can't always use that information. Are you trusting the crowd in a tense situation or are you trusting yourself? Third, yes, wonderful was awping very poorly, however you cannot solely blame him. The entire team was off in terms of individual play and tactical play. They were getting out called and out gunned, and they were not getting trades. Overall, even though my favourite team is NaVi, spirit definitely deserved this win, they were a much better team today. Gg.

lmao man NaVi fans really were trying to say that it's different because Turks tried to cheat for their national team, meanwhile Ukrainians in Kato just do it because they're Russian, so it's okay to crowd cheat. Of course B1ad3 says nothing about it

You could definitely see a lot of mistakes from Navi this game. They had chances to close out Dust 2 but just a lack of confidence caused them to choke. If the crowd wasn't being so obnoxious and acted normally I'm curious how this game would have played out. Crowd should start cheering for spirit if they want vitality to win tomorrow lol.

" I think on Mirage and on Dust2 we made a lot of mistakes because of the stage, 100%." man is this really a coach? spouting excuses after excuses? JL's interview was just plain and simple. Interviewer: "from your own words, what just went happen from this match up?" JL: "They were better" see the difference?

Yeah but for instance wonderful made so many mistakes. It's not like he is being dishonest. It just sounds like excuses.

@Striker "and beat Virtus.pro to secure a direct berth to the semi-finals in Poland" VP were in different group. They beat The Mongolz for semis spot.

Spirit made more mistakes and still 2:0ed you. 5:1 vs Hally in 2024 and now Hally kicked you out from both Blast Bounty and Katowice, blaming the stage when the crowd cheers for you is a new low xD

Spirit kicked blade out of Blast Bounty without Hally. Proof that this coach is such an overrated meh.

Hally still made all the preps, what it proves is tha Blad3 is not better than Hally since he can't even win while Hally isn't there to take timeouts xD

B1ad3 can’t help his team to win if w0nderful misses the simplest shots and loses all duels to rifle lol

When you stay long with awp you are expected to kill at least two rifles on short if you are tier 1 lol Sh1ro did that as well as s1mple ZyWoo M0nesy and any tier 1 awper except of w0nderbot

Wonderful did save Navi multiple times on short, failing some rounds when he got headshot automatically is the same as when b1t headshots magixx, in a good system it doesn't mean the round is 100% over but Navi gambled on b site, even if wonderful kills magixx, donk was coming second.

Has b1ad3 ever once admitted his team played bad without some weak excuse?

Although its not good to say "because stage", but the spodek audiencs shows very unpofessional and impolite to each teams. nobody wants watch team wins a match with the info come from out-game.

Blade, you are of course a good coach, no doubt about it! Well, in this game, it is clear that the guys were just scared! And they were not playing CS, but a repetition of your OUTLINE for the game! Even in some situations, it was clear that they were afraid to make some kind of move so as not to deviate from your game plan! And Spirit played chaotically! Which Navi were not ready for! Because they were taught from completely different books! The first 5-6 rounds are played on psychology, and then strategy and tactics come! Well, I think you know everything. JL caught some kind of star! He just sits stupidly on camera, grinning his forehead, wondering how he lost or how his teammate is losing. Alexey is simply afraid to give some kind of aggressive calls! He stupidly follows the piece of paper that is written .... I would like to see not only tactics in your team, but some kind of aggression and self-confidence, and for the guys to be confident in each other! And now you weren't ready to become finalists....
