PGL Cluj-Napoca schedule announced

The Romanian event will kick off with a 16-team Swiss stage.

PGL has released the full schedule for its first event of the year, in Cluj-Napoca. Kicking off on February 14, the Romanian tournament will feature 16 teams duking it out for $1.25 million in prize money.

PGL Cluj-Napoca will begin with a five-round Swiss stage, held in the Romanian company's Bucharest studio.

The top eight teams will then travel to Cluj-Napoca for the single-elimination playoffs, which will take place at BTarena, the same venue that staged the playoffs of the Romanian Major in 2015 (back then, it was still known as the Polyvalent Hall).

The 16 teams attending the event were invited based on their rank in Valve's Regional Standings (VRS), which also determined the first-round match-ups. The tournament's highest seed, The MongolZ, will take on ninth seed Complexity, while the second seed, FaZe, will go up against tenth seed SAW.

One of the more interesting match-ups in the first round will pit MOUZ against BIG in what will be Lotan "⁠Spinx⁠" Giladi's debut for the current World No.7 team, who crashed out of IEM Katowice in 13th-16th place with Adrian "⁠xelex⁠" Vincze as a stand-in.
