Imperial fe to step in as FURIA withdraw from PGL Cluj-Napoca

PGL has announced that FURIA have chosen to withdraw from PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 just days before the start of the tournament in Romania, which is set to take place on February 14-23, with teams like MOUZ, FaZe, The MongolZ and Eternal Fire on the roster.

The reason given by FURIA is that the team needs to focus on getting visas for the BLAST.tv Austin Major, a tournament three months down the line. Brazilian fans won't have to fret, however, as they will have representation from other similarly-ranked teams, MIBR and paiN, in Romania.

The decision to skip PGL Cluj-Napoca could have consequences for FURIA, who floundered out of IEM Katowice in 13-16th place. The same consequences Milan "⁠Striker⁠" Švejda wrote about in his January 29 column titled Liquid's Cluj mistake about their decision to skip the event in Romania.

PGL invited the next team in Valve's team ranking, Imperial Valkyries, who accepted the invitation, and will play their second big international LAN after attending the IEM Katowice Play-in, where they faced FURIA and took them to the brink on Mirage before falling 0-2.

This would explain why Imperial Valkyries decided to skip CCT Season 2 Europe Series 18, a tournament they withdrew from, as it will be going on at the same time as the event in Romania.

depends what are you looking for when watching CS. I am curious about their game and how they are evolving from tournament to tournament. Also, they bring in more spectators than half of the teams attending the tournament(s) and their games are much more entertaining than a Furia match could ever be.

Obviously, I was talking about mrage, which was unpredictable, especially when the score was getting close. If Imp had won that (which they should have), wouldn’t there be a lot of questions about whether furia would lose the entire series or not? All your arguments are wrong - if they are a tier 4 team then i am glad to have the chance to see them on the big stage, means they evolved their gameplay to some extent plus there are rules which alow them to be here - bigger viewership does matter, TO's get a ton of money from ads and advertisment, basic maths tells us more viewers = more money - it's not only because they are woman, there are other factors which i briefly mentioned above

-you can just watch esea main if you want to watch t4 -if that was part of the criteria that made up the VRS then fair enough, but it isnt. -They are literally only here because they are women. They got to play in women only LANs which got them all these points. Since then they havent won a single map, but due to the great VRS just playing LAN matches gives you points.

Why wouldn't you support tier4 teams that actually deserved the spot by winning quals? Yeah, money is only reason they are getting invited, which, again, isnt fair for any other grinding to the top male teams that can 13-0 them any fay of the week but are not allowed to grab those easy points that are dedicated only for women teams. There is literally no other reason for them to be in tier1 tournaments. Only reason is to get some teenagers to wank to some random girls.

shortly, the orgs that lately dominated scene (ESL and BLAST) have set up more or less official deals with orgs that they will play their events if possible, but PGL is "new" in scene and steps in with higher prizepool instead which benefits mostly players, not orgs that makes orgs and players have to choose their events since unless you drop out early you have hard time finding any practice and rest time between events
