GamerLegion eliminate SAW from EPL 21

ztr's troops recovered from a slow start to join the 2-2 pool in Stockholm.

GamerLegion move on to the last Swiss round

GamerLegion are through to the final round of ESL Pro League 21's Stage 2 following a 2-1 win over SAW. The international team overcame a shaky start and turned the series around with two defensive masterclasses that squeezed SAW out of the game.

"We expected SAW to pick Train, but they ran all over us," GamerLegion coach Ashley "ash" Battye said after the match. "We're going to have to look deep into it and try to improve it. A lot of teams will want to pick that now.

"From there, I think we played great. On Inferno, I don't think it was as close as the score looked. On Ancient, there were maybe some nerves towards the end, but it felt pretty comfortable."

It's the end of the road for the Portuguese team, which began Stage 2 with an upset of Natus Vincere but couldn't reach the same level in the other matches.

With no LAN events on the horizon, Christopher "MUTiRiS" Fernandes' troops will turn their attention to the Austin Major 's MRQ in a month.

SAW came out full of intent and cruised to a 10-2 lead on the T side of Train, taking advantage of GamerLegion's frailties on the map. It wouldn't take long for them to put the game past their opponents, with André "Ag1l" Gil posting a 1.96 rating and Jan "cej0t" Dyl putting in an impressive 115 ADR.

Things looked bleak for GamerLegion as they looked sluggish in the early stages of Inferno, but they improved as the first half wore on and tied up the score before the break. Fredrik "REZ" Sterner then carried his rich vein of form into the CT side to power his team to a quick win.

Oldřich "PR" Nový and Henrich "sl3nd" Hevesi were in dominant form on the CT side of Ancient, combining for 31 frags as GamerLegion picked up a 9-3 lead. Things got a bit hectic in the second half as SAW began to chip away at the deficit, but their comeback attempt was quashed by Sebastian "Tauson" Tauson Lindelof in a crucial 1v1 situation at 11-8.

first of all welcome back Ademar. You wuere awfully quiet when SAW was winning buddy. Did mom not pay for the internet? They played PGL Cluj with the old line up , the tournament finished for them on the 21st . Azuwu and CeJ0t were announced on the 23rd traveled to Portugal on the 27th basically to travel together to Stockholm. The only practice they had after this were officials and a few days during the break after going 3-0
