Former ALTERNATE aTTaX coach xenn is stepping in on an interim basis.

Alexander "⁠kakafu⁠" Szymanczyk's time as BIG's coach has come to an end, the German organization have announced.

Sebastian "⁠xenn⁠" Hoch, formerly of ALTERNATE aTTaX, will take over on an "interim basis" after joining as an assistant coach in January.

"I was sad that I didn't get more time with the new roster," kakafu said to HLTV in a comment. "BIG will always be a part of me and I wish everybody the best moving forward."

The Austrian took over from Fatih "⁠gob b⁠" Dayik in May 2024, a promotion from his previous role as assistant, and helped stabilize the team during a difficult first season back as a German-speaking team.

But BIG have never broken the top 10 or made playoffs at a Big Event; a plateau that has cost kakafu his job.

xenn led ATTAX to IEM Cologne 2024's play-in

It was kakafu's second stint as BIG coach after a year in the role from 2017-2018, where the team made the playoffs of the PGL Krakow Major with the aid of a controversial jump bug.

New coach xenn arrives with invites to IEM Melbourne and PGL Astana accepted, and with BIG all but secured in the Major Regional Qualifiers thanks to their placing of 20th on the Valve Global Standings.

They did not "dump him like its nothing" lmao. he was part of the BIG organisation for four years. they invested & taught him a lot and replaced him with a better player for the roles he was given at the time (JDC, BIGs currently best rated player). I dont think you can say anything bad about that move at the time. The easy NA competition and VRS advantage are good points but i think if you're a german player in a t2/t3 team and BIG wants you, you will want to make it happen. honestly i think s1n returning to BIG is only a matter of time.

I 100% agree with you. S1n even got almost no time and got removed from IGL duties after just 2 Matchdays and tabseN took back over. In M80 he got the time and talents and made prettty good work of them, look at malbs. How good he was in m80 and in G2 he has the struggle living up to his potential. He also brought up Hyped and Krimbo. Prosus also has been under his captaincy. Who I still prefer over rigoN and kyuubi, no disrespect to those two.

no.S1n is not doing anything special at m80 and he's no better than tabsen.M80 failed to make the major two times and their only success is at epl, because the best teams flopped in their group.He had also 0,94 and 0,90 against top.30 and top.20, so he's not fragging.

you are right bro. he was a known cheater since I can remember. Played with other cheaters like kzy (who changed his nick and thought people will forget about his past lmao) and others. Big problem in cs in general is that cheaters are not ousted. Playing with a hacker in team is never punished or looked down upon. Some even like to play with them in a team, cause they climb the ladder faster. Back in 2007 we had quite a few pros who cheated their ways into higher tier cs. It's just gotten way worse and the scene not being hard enough on hackers is a big reason for that. And idc if someone comes with simple having cheated as well or whatever. Idc. If you cheat, you should be banned for at least 5 years from all competitions and if you are above 14/15, forever. Ppl who played with a hacker should also get at least 3 months break and in severe cases way more. fuck hackers. no matter if they were 12 or 20. Fuck xenn and the big family for giving this cunt a job

1 month ago tizian was still trying to play but didnt make it into the new team with syrson k1to and cacanito would be fun to see him coach but i dont think BIG just picks him up without any experience as a coach at all

While i agree with the people here that kakafu isnt the problem, there really isnt any fix for this team. The German players just arent good enough to make it to the top 10 in VRS, whether in EU or the Global list. I dont even think adding s1n and Slaxz would be the right answer. Krimbo is in a super slump rn, playing new roles in which he is not comfortable with ever since JDC came on board. Krimbo needs to be able to find his rhythm again, and be the 1.15+ player he showed everyone he could be. Being barely on par is not where he should be and many of BIGs shortcomings likely start with getting Krimvo back where he needs to be for this team to succeed again. JDC, Hyped, and Krimbo should be enough firepower to make the top 10 in EU in theory, but even if you change out the supportive cast, will that be enough? I think this team is just never getting back to those highs again. They have no superstar on this team anymore, and while Krimbo showed flashes, this massive shunt from him is making things worse.

BIG has been an infinite revolving door for so long now that the fix is unkown. Maybe some actual stability for a year+ could be the answer instead of cycling through every half decent german player.

The issue with going international right now is that more likely than not they are going to do a SAW type international move where you arent going to get some great superstars like you did with Xantares. idk if BIG is willing to do a like one/two step back move to make a few steps forward (with risk that those players flop).

The problem is roster. They god JDC, then hyped os "ok" but not better than syrson. And then tabsen fell of a lot from his glory days, kyubi is entrying and he struggles a lot vs good teams and krimbo is just pure disappointmentconsidering hes trading players, he should have way better stats.
