jkaem admits to wrongdoing in skin borrowing scandal

The 31-year-old has promised to return money or skins to "more than one" party.

jkaem has promised to repay the collectors he owes money or skins to

Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad has been publicly accused of owing $10,000 worth of skins to trader erlsan, a debt stretching back to loans made for the Paris Major.

The Norwegian rifler, after the whistle was blown by erlsan, has faced further accusations of delayed or absent payments underneath the original tweet and admitted there is "more than one case" of wrongdoing in a statement.

The practice of skin lending is common in the professional scene, where skin traders will allow players to borrow high-tier weapon finishes in order to see their collections on broadcast.

jkaem, however, is accused of gambling away erslan's skins and failing to return them. According to erlsan, he later promised to "upgrade" the skins. But after two years, erlsan says he is still waiting for his money — receiving only $1,000 of the $11,000 total debt on March 15, 2025.

"I reached out mulitple times and he kept on creating new excuses," erlsan said on X. "He was traveling, he was getting paid in a week, for example. Eventually, I realized I was being too patient."

erlsan's decision to go public has led to an admission of fault from jkaem in "more than one case", and promises to complete repayment:

"I don’t have any excuses," jkaem said in a statement on X. "I fucked up bad and there is more than one case. I will pay back everything to everyone I owe money/skins. I was an idiot honestly. I take full responsibility and I own my mistakes.

"Together with BC team we are sitting down and taking this very serious. They want to help me fix the damage I have caused to everyone involved. I am being honest and open with them about my issues and how we have ended here."

"I want to say sorry to everyone that I have taken advantage of. I am 100% in the wrong here and I have to stand in my own mess."

A similar story made the news on March 25 when Walker "walker" Harris began repaying traders for $3000 worth of stolen skins.

BC.Game were asked to comment, but did not reply before the time of publication.

This is a developing story. If you have been affected, please reach out to Nohte on X or [email protected] on email.

Wtf are you talking about? This wasn’t a gift, this was established to be a loan. He gambled away the skins, which in itself could probably be legal, but what is NOT legal is to not repay the loan in the agreed upon terms.

Maybe in your country. A contract doesn’t have to be a “legal document” here for it to be enforceable by law, otherwise any business could take your money and not give you whatever you bought simply because you didn’t sign a “legal document”

Where i'm from this would absolutely be considered an agreement. The issue would be proving cs skins count as digital property and how much value they have.

since the transaction was organised over DMs, courts would see that as equivalent to a formal agreement (im assuming a norwegian court would be similar to uk/us/aus ones about this)

Was back in the older days so even fewer people know about it compared to like Senzu for example. Here's a reddit link 10 years ago about a fan who was supposed to win a knife from the giveaway but got done a lil dirty, even cadiaN was in the thread willing to compensate. He did manage to get a knife at the end though: reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/3i..

This is how addiction works often. Have a little sympathy for everyone affected. The gamblers head is not a nice place to be. It's just really sad that this can happen. Especially in cs, where gambling is so prevalent and normalized. Things have got to change

I mean sure but at the same time we have already entered an era that will continue probably until the end of our current civilization, that is the era where things that "physically dont exist"(technically they do but theyre literally just some atoms in some server/pc/whatever) like skins in a game will be worth this much because unless a nuclear war or a massive sun flare happens that wipes out electricity/servers in key areas those skins wont suddenly stop existing/lose value.

Correct, give this man a star. Economics and business 101: it’s a perceived value. Actual value: worthless. High-value skins fall in the same categories of collectibles; Pokémon cards or fine-art. Once the interest dies or issues arise (low player count/no majors or events) so does the perceived value. Only difference is once Valve is done with CS so does all your money spent on skins and the skin you paid for.

in jkaem's defense, his time after the major was undeservedly bad, that major run was supposed to lift him up and he ended up in Bleed which was promising but crumbled. By all means he is a better player than his run is making it look. And what most people do not know, jkaem paid for most of his transfer to Bleed and was supposed to get that back through paychecks and stuff but we all know how that went. I am not justifying a gamba degenerate, it was beyond stupid to gamble with someone else's money. But I feel like if things went as they probably should have for him that he'd pay that back in no time. Still, sticker money from Paris alone should have been enough to pay everything back.

My point was that Paris Major shown he can do well on big stage and that major was by far the best on sticker money. So both from monetary perspective as well as him building for the future, it should have been something to take him up but he went down, both with teams but seemingly also with his addiction problem. He should have several hundreds of thousands from stickers just from that one run. He was instrumental for them, his impact was really good. It just didn't seem like trajectory was down but guess you can never doubt man's ability to fuck up his own life for no good reason.

quite delusional, hateing on cosmetics which in fact dont cost you anything nor are they needed to play the game and have the same experience as anyone else still ppl shit on the one thing that made csgo big, the big issue with cs is the gambling part not the skins but i bet you already figured. On the other hand the idiot was loaning skins to ppl he dont know, while accepting the trade offer the rightfully (temporary owner) is jkaem. What a MASSIVE dissapointment from jkaem, thought he would behaved better after being in the scene for so years. Incredible. He should pay him back with the HUGE amount that he must got from the Paris Major Sticker Money, but maybe is dusted now lol

"Together with BC team we are sitting down and taking this very serious. They want to help me fix the damage I have caused to everyone involved. I am being honest and open with them about my issues and how we have ended here." "How we ended here" how you ended up in BC? xddd Jokes aside, I see no reason whatsoever why BC should get involved and pay it from their own pocket

He is probably 100K in debt to like 10 people (pulled numbers out of my ass) so no. Think about it likethis, even considering stealing the skins (which this is basically) and gambling them away to try and make more money he has to be buried in shit. STEALING 11k and ghosting a man for a year you probably owe 10x.

well if you refuse to lend to one pro, bad word of mouth then you're slowly ousted from their circles as other traders happily lend

I’ve been reading the responses, and it seems like some people these days don’t seem to understand the importance of empathy. I’m not saying that jkaem is right, but I do believe that we should show some sympathy to someone who admits their mistake, no matter what the circumstances. Addiction is a serious issue, and it’s important to recognize that it’s not just about the money. It’s about the person’s well-being. I’m glad that he’s taking steps to address his problems, and I hope he can find the support he needs to overcome them.
