Liquid go 0-6 in siuhy's debut to exit Bucharest in last place

The MongolZ consigned Liquid to a 0-3 exit after punishing several mistakes across Mirage and Anubis.

Liquid have been sent packing from PGL Bucharest in last place with a 0-3 record, their debut tournament with Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek brought to a miserable end following a 0-2 defeat to The MongolZ.

Limited practice with their new captain, who was announced just two days before the event, absolves Liquid of much criticism, but it's clear there is much work to be done to get siuhy integrated into the lineup and his system running.

Liquid couldn't tally a map win in their tournament run, dropping series to Legacy and Virtus.pro ahead of their loss to The MongolZ. Each of the series had one close map and another that was one-sided, with this elimination game starting off with a 13-11 win for The MongolZ.

Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren's side were one of the sure-favorites to win the event upon arriving in Bucharest, but suffered an early trip to the 0-2 elimination pool after a narrow defeat to 3DMAX and a shock upset loss to Betclic.

They looked more like themselves against Liquid despite a slow start on Mirage, going down 2-6 despite winning the pistol and conversion before recovering to post five at the break. Liquid couldn't get much going in the second half, winning the pistol and conversion but failing to string wins together with a haphazard defense.

That allowed The MongolZ to edge out victory on their pick in regulation, and Azbayar "Senzu" Munkhbold ensured that momentum carried into Anubis.

He combined with Ayush "mzinho" Batbold and Sodbayar "Techno" Munkhbold to punish several sloppy mistakes and early aggressive pushes from Liquid, and Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken's best efforts weren't enough to pull the deficit back in the second half after an mzinho quad-kill halted a brief comeback effort.

NAF has the second-worst event of his career

It wasn't the start to life Liquid would have wanted with siuhy, but now they'll at least have some time to clean up their mistakes and get some proper practice before heading to IEM Melbourne, slated to kick off on April 21.

During that time, Keith "NAF" Markovic will need to find a way through the slump he's been in since the year started, with PGL Bucharest being his third consecutive event in the red.

The five lowest-rated events of NAF's career

The Canadian's role clash and positional overlaps with Justin "jks" Savage offered some excuse for the dismal performances in 2025, but with the Australian out, NAF couldn't immediately turn his trajectory around.

He ended PGL Bucharest with a 0.69 rating, the second-worst event of his career after his debut for Liquid at MLG X Games Aspen 2015 (0.58 rating 1.0). He showed uncharacteristic, visible frustration after rounds, clearly unhappy with his performance, and can only hope to turn it around over the next two weeks.

They had to make the move at some point. No matter where you are in the season, there's always a next event coming up and you'll never show your best form immediately after a roster change. This is a great opportunity for Liquid to test siuhy out before the next transfer window and see if they want to commit to him and/or make other moves.

They could've done this change as soon as they were ousted from Blast Lisbon and they would've had 2 weeks to practice together, but nope, waited until 2 days before PGL Bucharest to make things official. Results won't change if they keep doing stuff like this.

nerocs literally wrote an article about how siuhy was going to fix liquids T sides and how he was going to make them better only for them to go 0-6 in this tournament losing to legacy HLTV 51st best team in the world. they need to stop it with this siuhy is a GOAT IGL narrative. they needed a new karrigan and they just handed siuhy the keys and gave him that storyline and all these brainless users just regurgitate the same crap they read without even watching him

Most honeymoon periods come after a new member has had at least a week/month to settle down. Siuhy came in a day before the tournament.
2025-04-09 05:35

for a honeymoon you need to actually practice. they haven't had time to integrate siuhy in any way, they have had around one week to agree on comms and where everybody should play (siuhy is not a 1 to 1 replacement for jks obviously), it's a joke to expect them to do well. not to say zero maps is a good sign. but anything other than 0-3 would have been a positive sign already.

honeymoon theory is dumb to begin with cuz it varies from team to team. the main point for the issue is that you can't value if a player had impact or not just with 1 event, especially if it is an igl without prac time and with 2 of the players playing very very badly. i know haters just wanna hate but at least wait 2/3 events before doing the -siuhy posts, especially since strats aint something you train in a week

He's been the IGL for 37 minutes and roles have shifted yet again. Siuhy needs more time to get the team on the same page and NAF needs to find his confidence in his role. Liquid has been sucking so bad but they actually do need time on this one before we can fully judge. Still an abysmal performance nonetheless.

liquid issue isnt with any player at all. we've all seen what they can do. the whole problem has to do with chemistry. all of the current players are too coolheaded except ultimate. this creates passivity. i think siuhy would be able to eventually change player temperature. thinking back... in the past, i think even yekindar went from active and mad to more passive. there must be something about twist that changed them. making everyone play more like him lol.
