Complexity secure home Major berth, Imperial qualify from South America

Jason Lake's organization will represent itself on home turf in Texas.

Imperial and Complexity have locked in berths to the BLAST.tv Austin Major after claiming the first spots on offer in the South and North America Major Regional Qualifiers.

Complexity came into the qualifier as heavy favorites, having only missed a direct berth to Stage 2 of the Major by a handful of points and coming off an impressive fourth-place finish at PGL Bucharest.

Despite not dropping a map, their path to Austin was labored. They won 13-11 and 19-17 over Getting Info and 16-12 and 13-7 over BLUEJAYS, nearly letting an 11-6 lead on Anubis slip in the former series and needing to recover from 2-9 down in the latter.

Johnny "⁠JT⁠" Theodosiou's side still managed to keep a clean sheet, though, and secured the organization a home Major berth in Texas, as well as first appearances for Danny "⁠Cxzi⁠" Strzelczyk and Nick "⁠nicx⁠" Lee.

Imperial locked in their berth after dominant wins over ODDIK and Sharks in the South America qualifier, securing 13-6 and 13-4 wins on Anubis and Mirage in the latter series courtesy of 1.61 and 1.54-rated maps from Lucas "⁠decenty⁠" Bacelar and Santino "⁠try⁠" Rigal.

The Argentinian sniper has been in terrifying form since the turn of the year, averaging a 1.25 rating, 1.25 impact, and 0.80 KPR over 76 maps.

He has been completely unstoppable against domestic opposition and that remained true in this qualifier, which he finished with a 1.57 rating, 1.61 impact, and 1.12 KPRW.

The Brazilian team replaced RED Canids-bound João "⁠felps⁠" Vasconcellos with Richard "⁠chayJESUS⁠" Seidy during the tournament break and have now earned the 23-year-old his first Major appearance, while RED Canids are locked in a battle for their tournament lives in Group B's lower bracket.
