Danny "zonic" Sørensen spoke with Freya "Freya" Spiers on the broadcast to give his thoughts on Falcons' run in Melbourne.
On why they lost Nuke: There was a ZywOo round at one point that kinda... I wouldn't say it destroyed our mood or anything, but I've worked with this guy, and he just has these rounds.
Towards the end of Nuke I could really feel that our playbook was limited, we didn't have that many days with m0NESY, as I've said a couple of times.
Reflections on Falcons' run: Obviously there are a lot of positives. They're difficult to find right now, we're a little bit disappointed, but overall with one practice day, we've been grinding. There's been no one sitting and relaxing the practice room, if it wasn't for playing, we would be sitting theorycrafting or getting m0NESY through the stratbook.
On Falcons' ceiling: The goal is to knock Vitality off the throne. This time it didn't happen. I also want to use this opportunity to congratulate them, I know how hard they work as well, amazing players[...] We need a little bit more time if we want to beat a team like that, but I'm super proud of how close we came.
Four trophies in a row, an ESL Grand Slam secured, but my word were Vitality tested.
René "TeSeS" Madsen had a magnificent series, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was as potent as ever, but as the decider wore on it felt like every single player on the server had big moments to send the map to three overtimes.
Falcons can take solace in the fact they performed so well on their debut with Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, and they probably should have won this final, squandering six championship points on Nuke.
As for Vitality, they continue their incredible recent streak. They felt mortal today, and who knows how long they can keep it up.
