Astralis shut down youth program

The Danish organization will no longer foster an academy team.

br0 spent nearly a year in Astralis Talent before leaving and returning to the main team in 2024

Astralis has announced the dissolution of its youth program. "In our ongoing efforts to streamline the organization and secure a healthy business, we regret to announce that we will discontinue the operations of Astralis Talent," the organization said in a statement.

The news of Astralis further shrinking its operations after rounds of layoffs comes following reports of a will to sell the organization and its CS division. The strained organization was put under further duress recently, when the CS team failed to qualify for the upcoming BLAST.tv Major in Austin.

Astralis Talent was put together going into the 2021 season, and has been home to players like Rasmus "⁠Zyphon⁠" Nordfoss, Alexander "⁠Altekz⁠" Givskov, Frederik "⁠Fessor⁠" Sørensen, Patrick "⁠Patti⁠" Larsen, and Alexander "⁠br0⁠" Bro, among others.

Other than lower-tier online play, Astralis Talent competed in the local Danish LAN environment, and at their best even won POWER Ligaen Season 23, Gamebox Festival 2022, and NPF Invitational 2022.

"Being a part of the Danish ecosystem around talent development has been a priority," Astralis' statement says. "We will continue to follow the Danish talent scene closely and wish everybody working with the amazing young players all the best going forward."

predatory tactics as an org, their record of poaching players and staff from heroic isnt good. same as falcons ripping apart 2 different orgs and buying their way to success. its not good for a healthy pool of talent.

Idk why people have such an issue with this, it's like this in every SINGLE sport out there. The large groups always win overtime because they have the money to just outbuy everyone else.

it's not about poaching, poaching gives something (money) to the orgs whose players got poached the problem is that they employed literal moles within heroic (hunden, stabbi) to wreak havoc before they were to join astralis

they were literally involved in every controversy in t1 cs ever. obviously sad for the players and staff that were not really involved in all of this but their management had it coming for a while now.

The org hired Casper Shit, the handball guy, who broke prime Astralis at their peak. And the org did nothing when players couldn't get holidays so they had to take sick leaves. Then the org secretly hired banned Hunden, known cheat and bully. The org failed with the youth program while many succeeded (gambit youngsters, mouz nxt, navi junior/youth, spirit academy etc).

yeah putting the unproven t3 russian awper that is learning english for a month into the portuguese speaking team is a gigabrain move compared to replacing a struggling IGL with a Cologne & Katowice winner that speaks the same native language as the rest of the team
