Media: Astralis exploring sale of organization and CS division

Jonas Gundersen, former COO of NIP, has reportedly shown interest in purchasing the brand.

Jonas "⁠calc⁠" Gundersen, former Chief Operating Officer Ninjas in Pyjamas, has expressed interest in acquiring the Astralis organization, according to a report by Dust2.dk.

The report comes in the wake of rumors that the four-time Major-winning organization is on the verge of bankruptcy, with Russian insider Aleksei "⁠OverDrive⁠" Birukov stating on Telegram the organization would either close or be sold to new owners.

HLTV can confirm Astralis has actively been seeking a buyer for its brand, IP rights, and CS division.

Dust2.dk reported that it is unknown how far along a potential deal with Gundersen is or whether a bid has been made, but that the former COO has shown interest. Whether there are other interested buyers or what the plan would be if a sale doesn't go through is unknown.

The Danish publication reports Astralis' potential sale price to be between 13-20 million DKK ($2-3 million USD), although whether that figure includes the players or is just for the IP alone is unclear.

The news comes after Astralis missed its fifth consecutive Major by failing to qualify for Austin, leaving the organization bereft of revenue from sticker sales for over three years. In 2024, Milan "⁠Striker⁠" Švejda stated on HLTV Confirmed that missing the first three of those Majors likely cost Astralis "somewhere in the area of $3-4 million."

The team recently brought in Rasmus "⁠HooXi⁠" Nielsen as a stand-in to replace Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller and is set to compete in PGL Astana from May 10-18.
