PGL Astana 2025malbsMd leads the way as G2 eliminate BIG from PGL Astana
TAZ and his men have turned a 0-2 start in Astana into a 2-2 record ahead of the final day of the group stage.
G2 are through to the final day of the group stage at PGL Astana after taking out BIG 2-0, with star player Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa continuing to show a return to form. "I think I'm coming back, I feel happier," he told HLTV despite G2's first two losses to MIBR and ODDIK with coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas in tow, and he once again performed against the Germans.
G2, still playing with TaZ in place of Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač in Astana, have survived two elimination matches and will now get a chance in an all-or-nothing match to make it to the playoffs.
To get there, they kicked off BIG's Dust2 pick in style. From a 7-5 lead at the half, malbsMd racked up a 2.81 rating in the eight rounds after the switch with a spectacular 16 kills and 192 ADR to his name.
The Guatemalan continued popping off on Mirage, where G2 started on the CT side, and he got 21 kills and 124 ADR in the first 15 rounds.
G2 then entered the final half of Mirage with an 8-4 lead and won the series out without a hitch, 13-4, to secure a spot in the Swiss group stage's deciding round.
The loss in Astana sends BIG straight into the player break, as the German squad will not play at IEM Dallas or the BLAST.tv Austin Major, the final two events of the season.
