NIP to face G2 in do-or-die PGL Astana round 5

Snappi and company look to make it to the playoffs in their tier-one event debut against a weakened G2.

sjuush has crept up into the top-three highest-rated players of PGL Astana groups

The final matchups of the PGL Astana group stage have been set following the conclusion of round four, which saw FURIA, Astralis and Natus Vincere make it to playoffs and BIG, paiN and HOTU exit the competition.

The last day of groups will kick off at 07:00 with the headline matchup between Ninjas in Pyjamas and G2.

Wiktor "⁠TaZ⁠" Wojtas and company still have yet to provide an update on when Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač will be able to travel to Astana after encountering visa issues, giving Ninjas in Pyjamas an opening to make it to the playoffs in their tier-one debut with the new lineup.

The Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer-led squad made it to the final day off the back of inspired performances from Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck and Artem "⁠r1nkle⁠" Moroz, who appear at the top of the leaderboards with a 1.32 and 1.21 rating over 10 maps, far ahead of their sub-1.00-rated teammates.

The other two matchups will see Aurora take on the surprise of the tournament, ODDIK, before MIBR take on Virtus.pro for the final spot in the quarter-finals.

Welcome to VRS-based events. VRS doesn't accurately rate teams, it mostly does well in ranking a range of where a team is supposed to be.

It has nothing to do with vrs rating and everything with using rankings from 3 months ago to seed (plus buccholz)

It's because even if the VRS system isn't perfect, the Buchholz system only cares about how teams play in the swiss stage. Having teams like GamerLegion and paiN underperform breaks the seeding.

I dont want Forest to play performance wise... Just imagine Forest vs TaZ and Snax, an all time classic... First time Forest played TaZ was probably nearly 20 Years ago...
