sAw on potential G2 move: "There's always going to be rumors"

sAw is set to collide with former teammates in HEROIC's match against Falcons.

Although HEROIC have had minimal opportunities to play tier-one events throughout 2025, the international side have been making proper use of their time, coming off wins at the CCT Global Finals and MESA Nomadic Masters.

Now heading to IEM Dallas, their first notable event in two months, HEROIC have already bagged a significant scalp, taking down a jetlagged Aurora to kick off their outing in Texas.

Not long after his team's victory over Aurora, HEROIC coach Eetu "sAw" Saha spoke with HLTV regarding the opening match, the team's impending matchup against Falcons, and sAw's own potential move to G2 alongside Álvaro "SunPayus" García.

The interview can be listened to on Spotify.

We're here with sAw after beating Aurora to start IEM Dallas. How are you feeling after that result?

Well, obviously a good win for us. It's not like we get many chances to play tier-one teams; throughout the season we do not have many of these matches. It's a good thing we can show some good CS and get the win from them. They have been in a good form during this season.

There is, of course, some limitations on them with the travel to here and everything. Sucks for them, but I mean you can't take anything away from us I would say, because a win is a win, and it's important for us to show that we are able to do these things.

It got quite close on Anubis. Do we chalk it up to it being a T-sided map or was there something else there?

I would say that Anubis CT-side we played some good rounds. There were some situations where they caught us off guard with some of the lurks and switching from A to B and so on with rotations, so that was part of it. It is, of course, a T-sided map, and when we went into our CT-side we kept mentioning that it's not gonna come for free and we need to keep fighting for it.

In the end, it was getting a bit close, so it was important we were able to close it out. I would say we played decent on the CT-side even though it looked a bit rough.

You did say that you didn't have a whole lot of tier-one opportunities this year but you did just come off wins at the CCT Global Finals and MESA Nomadic Masters. Can you tell me about those wins and how the team is feeling, even though the biggest teams weren't there?

All of these tournaments are important steps for us. After Denmark, since we qualified for the Major, we looked at how the rest of the season is going to look like. We obviously had CCT, an online tournament and not the biggest, and then going to the next one we have MESA in Mongolia, a LAN tournament, a bit higher up from CCT, I would say, even though there's only eight teams. Coming to here is another step, and then the Major is the last step of these four tournaments.

Taking these steps and showing improvements throughout the event I think is really important for us. Looking at where we started from the season, kind of building up to these events, I think it gave us good momentum and confidence to go into this tournament. I hope we can continue with that.

How do you feel about Dallas specifically? How far do you think the team is capable of going?

I think we have chances to go to the playoffs. It's not going to be easy, and I feel like we got a bit of the harder group, but we have the chances. It's gonna require good things from us; not exactly peak level but close to peak level CS from us. That's basically what I'm hoping that we can show with the momentum that we have and the things we have going for us right now.

There was a report that tied you and SunPayus to G2 after the Major. Is there anything you can say about a potential move to G2?

I think there's always going to be rumors, and there's probably always going to be talks behind the scenes about who can go where and agents and organizations talking, but our focus is on this event. We have built these steps, so we're just now going to focus on the tournaments and take these steps.

Usually, these player breaks and tournament breaks will have talks and figure out where we are with the team and where everyone is. But of course, the focus is on the moment and on this tournament to do our best.

You guys are up against Falcons next. A bit of a star-studded team that you haven't faced this year. How do you feel about that matchup?

Of course, we know a bit of how they play from kyxsan, TeSeS, the core from HEROIC, and now m0NESY. They are on a good form, at the moment top four team for sure. How exactly those top four teams place I do not know. But they are on a good form, we are on a good form. I think we can match them, but it's gonna require us to play really good Counter-Strike, of course. I hope we can surprise them a bit there.

I am curious about the Major. You're starting in Stage 1; is the plan to stay here in the States between Dallas and the Major or will you go back to Europe?

We will be going back to Europe. Of course, how many days that it will be will depend if we make it to playoffs here or not. It's gonna be a bit tough potentially coming back, but no matter what probably some pracc days in Europe and then coming back here, trying to possibly stay in the timezone a bit and adjust so the jetlag won't get us too much. Going back to Europe and then coming back for the Major, hoping for a good run there as well.

Do you have any expectations regarding how far you can make it in the Major?

About the Major, I think it's fair to say that the first stage is the weakest and then it slowly goes up each stage. I do feel like we should have good potential to make it to the last stage, and with some upsets maybe even playoffs. It's gonna be a long road since we start from the beginning. Tough to say expectations other than we are going to do our best and grind through all these Swiss stages hopefully.

But anyway I find this stalling hilarious, why don't people just say the truth then? It's obvious that when you say stuff like "we focus on the tournament right now", it means there are talks going on.

Players (and coaches) might avoid giving yes/no answers to these questions due to several reasons: NDAs, the situation being ongoing or simply having no need to shoot down rumors — Its obviously a good look for a player or a coach if many of the top teams are constantly interested in them.

G2 in this last year recruited 2 top 20 caliber players in malbs & heavyg; those 2 are better than anyone heroic can get he is having access to more big event invites, higher vrs ranking so he is automatically at the next major, more access to better players he is starting with a lineup of malbs heavyg hunter sunpayus +1 of his choosing; that's minimum top 10 team out of the jump if you take a stepback you will always realize the big orgs are big orgs for a reason and this is a better move for his career than develop talent and have it go to a better team in heroic/ence teams

G2 needs to stop making stupid moves and start fully embracing the Xi Tu meme by building around Heavygod and form a strong APAC core Replace Taz with either Renegades Napoleon Kassad or Drillas legend Ohnepixel Replace Snax with an actual experienced veteran IGL like Advent, GFi or Zilkenburg Replace Hunter with sk0r now that he doesn't have Kovac brothers buff or synergy If they do this Xi Tu will become top 3 VRS and Top Asia team by Budapest major
