Good vibes FaZe make quick work of HEROIC in Austin Major Stage 2 opener

Three pistol kills by s1mple in the first round set the tone for a dominating display by FaZe on Dust2.

FaZe dominated HEROIC on Dust2, 13-3, to go 1-0 after the first round of the Austin Major's Stage 2. The atmosphere on the FaZe side was pristine, too, a big shift from the long faces seen after their 9-12th place finish at IEM Dallas.

The match-up against HEROIC was extra spicy, as it was Simon "⁠yxngstxr⁠" Boije and his teammates who eliminated FaZe in Dallas, after which some banter between Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev and his IEM Dallas antagonists set the tone for the match in Austin.

The often-touted GOAT, s1mple, who has been working on a comeback after periods of scarce activity or inactivity, made his presence known early on with three pistol kills on the CT side, after which FaZe went on a 5-0 streak in what ended up being a dominating 10-2 half.

The banter went back and forth, although Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen was by far the loudest with his ambulance sounds and a whole diatribe about HEROIC running straight into their Anti-Long Pop strat.

The smiles only turned upside down for a second after the second pistol round, when Andrey "⁠tN1R⁠" Tatarinovich clutched to try and rally his team into a comeback, but a 1vs3 Desert Eagle clutch by David "⁠frozen⁠" Čerňanský the following round kept the good times rolling as FaZe went on to a resounding 13-3 victory.
