Sentinels weigh up entering CS with "a true NA ambition"

One of North America's most popular esports organizations could be expanding into Counter-Strike as early as next year.

Los Angeles-based esports organization Sentinels are seriously contemplating the possibility of entering Counter-Strike esports in the near future, CEO Rob Moore has revealed.

"It’s probable that we go in, maybe in 2026 or 2027," he told Sheep Esports. "But if we do, it will be with a true North American ambition."

Sentinels' expansion into Counter-Strike would certainly provide a major boost to the North American scene.

Sentinels currently compete in a small number of titles, including VALORANT, in which they are among the most popular and successful teams, with two international titles to their name.

Former Cloud9 member Jordan "⁠Zellsis⁠" Montemurro is currently on Sentinels' VALORANT roster, which for several years also featured Tyson "⁠TenZ⁠" Ngo. Mike "⁠shroud⁠" Grzesiek briefly played for the team in the summer of 2022.

ELEAGUE Major Boston champion Tarik "⁠tarik⁠" Celik, who played his last competitive CS tournament at the end of 2021, is a content creator for the organization.

Really, who would they even pick from? They'd need at least three NA players for VRS. Would M80 sell Lake? Would someone like Twistzz go from Liquid to Sentinels? Maybe they snag Jeorge from NRG? Time will tell - these players could fall off the face of the planet in a few years, most likely barring Twistzz, who isn't going anywhere.

So either they come in and sign all the big name NA players like Twistzz and Elige, or they pick up a cheap team. I would assume they splash with a huge team that contends in the top 8-20 but thats me hoping. The issue with NA is that it's always the same 10-15 players, NA refuses to gamble on young talent. If Sentinel does that and finds success, then NA has a chance to make a comeback.

They can be somewhat competitive in NA region, but realistically you won't be able to build decent T2/T3 team even if you would rob pretty much any known NA org for it's star ("star") player right now. Not to be an asshole, but i don't think NA has the player pool to make an "ambitious" project. Yeah i know there are good players in other teams, and Sentinels have money yeah yeah, but even paying for those big names won't make a good team. I hope Jason Lake keeps Complexity (until it doesn't generate an economic problem), because i can see a world where he just throws the towel and sell the team to another org.

NA cs will never revive at any point because the players themselves don't support NA orgs or any org at some point. they want 5000$ orgs instead of historical orgs like astralis or EG. They will kill every org until only orgs like Apex survives.
