ESL add third-place deciders from EPL S22 onward
The tournament organizer has announced a change to their circuit.

ESL has announced that all of their Tier 1 and Wildcard tournaments will now feature third-place decider matches, starting with ESL Pro League S22, set to begin on September 27 with Stage 1.
So far, the tournament organizer has announced that ESL Pro League Season 22, IEM Chengdu 2025, and IEM Krakow 2026 will feature the third-place decider and has therefore adjusted the prize pool, with the bronze-medal decider replacing the showmatch before the grand final on Sunday.
"With the continued evolution of the competitive landscape and teams vying for points counting towards their Valve Regional Standings, which now subsequently will fully decide their fate for the next Counter-Strike Major invites, we're today adding third-place decider matches to previously announced tournaments," ESL's statement reads.
The move puts ESL in line with PGL, who introduced third-place decider games at the start of 2025.
