3DMAX eliminate paiN to get revenge for Austin

Major semi-finalists paiN have been dumped out of FPG in groups.

3DMAX have made it to playoffs at FISSURE Playground at the expense of Austin Major semi-finalists paiN.

Bryan "⁠Maka⁠" Canda's troops came into proceedings with a point to prove after being eliminated from Austin by paiN, and Filip "⁠Graviti⁠" Brankovic admitted pre-game that the team had a "lot of emotion" and "wanted to get revenge."

That dish was served cold, with a convincing win on Ancient before a fantastic T side comeback from 7-11 to 12-11 on Nuke to leave paiN stunned.

Double overtime soon followed, where Graviti stepped it up a notch to help 3DMAX close map two out 19-17 and send the world number 10 home early.

"I couldn't help my team," Lucas "⁠nqz⁠" Soares admitted post-game to Anastasija "⁠Heccu⁠" Tolmačeva, adding: "We are struggling a lot on CT sides, not only Ancient, all maps. We will try to fix the issues. It's a disappointing result for us."

paiN's attention now turns to IEM Cologne, where they are in a tricky section of the bracket with FaZe and Liquid with the added challenge of Overpass' arrival in the map pool.

paiN stick to new Train permaban

paiN had some early troubles on Train and after the signing of Franco "⁠dgt⁠" Garcia have decided to start banning it, doing so in all three series at FPG.

This has left Ancient, the map Rodrigo "⁠biguzera⁠" Bittencourt has banned for his duration as captain, as a clear weakness in the pool.

"Role wise, we were not finding ourselves on Train," nqz said post-game. "It made more sense to play Ancient, in terms of positions and comfort in the team."

3DMAX were quick to pick and win it, as Graviti explained to Heccu pre-game: "We know they're not as confident, especially biguzera."

For paiN, integrating a map both snow and new signing dgt (who has a 1.22 career rating on Ancient, vs 1.16 overall) enjoy playing makes sense,

But teething issues are already affecting the team early into the new season, and dgt's 0.69 rating in today's series was a key reason for defeat.
