HEROIC make Cologne Stage 2 over struggling VP

The majority-Russian squad has now won one out of their last eight games.

tN1R had a fantastic Mirage performance

HEROIC defeated Virtus.pro in a two-map series (Overpass 13-8, Mirage 13-10) to qualify for the IEM Cologne Stage 2 and eliminate Denis "electroNic" Sharipov's men from the tournament.

Overpass was the series' first battleground, and HEROIC made the most out of their CT-side start to take an early 8-4 lead. Virtus.pro's pistol round gave them a glimmer of hope, but their B-site defense left much to be desired and allowed HEROIC to inch towards victory.

In the closing stages, Linus "nilo" Bergman took over with six kills in two rounds to get his team up to map point, which they converted at the first time of asking.

Mirage began as one-way traffic for Virtus.pro, who ran away to a 6-1 lead before Andrey "tN1R" Tatarinovich stopped the rot with an impactful triple kill. That helped HEROIC secure four rounds at the switch despite visibly being second-best, with a second-half pistol getting them within one round of Virtus.pro.

HEROIC, buoyed by their pistol victory, kept up their momentum in the latter stages of the map, as tN1R dominated proceedings and even found an ace late on. His 27 kills helped HEROIC secure a 13-10 win, which proved more than enough for a Stage 2 spot.

HEROIC win battle of early Overpass adopters

In a battle between two teams to pick Overpass on the first day of IEM Cologne, HEROIC corrected their errors from their debut loss against Ninjas in Pyjamas. The nilo and Gleb "gr1ks" Gazin combo on A was much more solid, which helped them secure eight on the defensive side, while successful B-pops were the backbone of an impressive offensive side.

Virtus.pro, who no doubt counted on the map to give them a boost after a lacklustre period of results, left much to be desired on the map, as their B defense, consisting of Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy and Petr "fame" Bolyshev, wasn't able to lock down that part of the map.

VP rotten run of form continues

Virtus.pro ended the spring season by going out of the BLAST.tv Austin Major with a 2-3 record after starting the tournament with two best-of-one victories. That prompted the organization to swap out Timur "FL4MUS" Marev for Perfecto, but the form has remained far from ideal.

Out of the five matches with Perfecto, Virtus.pro have won just one (a 2-0 win over TYLOO), and have now suffered two early exits. While their new addition has averaged a 1.00 rating across the two tournaments, the second-best in the team, the results speak of a team that has lost its way.

hltv.org/news/41703/perfecto-i-guess-i-c.. @Deamin I told you back at IEM Dallas, Perfecto is not good anymore. He does not make good decisions and his mechanics as an anchor are below average at the pro level. The game has passed him by. Any of these players would be better pickups for VP: -- sjuush -- fl1t -- cacanito -- dav1deus -- stewie2k -- hadji -- Staehr -- Tauson -- Zweih -- hext -- riskybob -- cairne (TNL)

YUP, for sure its Perfecto fault that the anchor is the 2nd best player in the roster. hltv.org/stats/teams/players/5378/virtus.. > Doesn´t play for 1 year + >Gets picked and instantly performs better than the 3 usual suspects. >fame good pure entry in CSGO = trash in cs2 >electronic good in CSGO> falldown as bad as SNAPPI in cs2. SO BAD. >ICY most mid awper in CIS region. HOW U PICK THAT out of all choices you have? Only game VP won in Cologne = hltv.org/matches/2383754/tyloo-vs-virtus.. Perfecto has to drop a 1.44 rating as a Anchor to win a match to this shit roster. ALSO WTF IS THIS OPTIONS??? you used ChatGPT to write this trash nonsense? 1st option: sjuush , YEAH LETS PUT HIM on a RUSKI speaking roster. HE IS FROM DENMARK DUMBASS 2st option: fl1t = GUESS WHAT? he is already in VIRTUS PRO , dumb af. 3rd option? NOT RUSKI. Jezus. you started watching CS this year? hope so. AND LIKE I ANSWERED IN THE POST YOU LINKED? i keep the same opinion. hltv.org/news/41703/perfecto-i-guess-i-c.. i read how dumb you were in that post , and called it. U STILL HAVENT CHANGED THAT.

No worries - agree to disagree - I'm just letting you know that Perfecto is not good anymore, regardless how much time he is given. I know this counter-intuitive because hey -it's PERFECTO! I started following the pro scene (t1 - t3) closely in 2018 and have been playing since 2001, version CS 1.3 There are better options that could do Perfecto's job better, including a couple decent options in their own VP Academy team. Dont get me wrong - perfecto is a major-winning anchor. But the game has passed him by, right now in 2025 he is over-rated. And signing him is a mistake, because of the opportunity cost. Cacanito, for example, or any of the names that I cited above back in Feb/Mar, are better. VP should invest in a talent, rather than cling onto a player who is relying on by-gone reputation, past glory from 4 or 5 years ago

HAHAHAHAHHA CACANITO you just talked a big bunch of NOTHING. Until the 3 suspects start playing in cs2: >fame good pure entry in CSGO = trash in cs2 >electronic good in CSGO> falldown as bad as SNAPPI in cs2. SO BAD. >ICY most mid awper in CIS region. THERES NOTHING THAT VP DO THATS GONNA WIN THEM VS ELITE TEAMS.

I agree, VP cannot really contend vs elite teams, and getting Perfecto as their anchor definitely is a step back
