Falcons finish third at EWC over Vitality

The home team won the third-place decider after a dominant third-map decider on Nuke.

Falcons could not lift the trophy on home soil at the Esports World Cup, but did get one over on a struggling Vitality in the third-place decider match and earn some valuable VRS points in the process.

"This game was super important for us, for the VRS points, and for our confidence, as well," Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač said after the match. "The game yesterday was very tough, especially on Train, so I'm glad we didn't end on that note and had the opportunity to show better CS today."

Vitality struck first on their Inferno map pick despite falling behind 4-8 on the CT side, turning it around with a 9-1 scoreline on the attack powered by a 2.92 T-side Rating with a +22% Swing performance by William "⁠mezii⁠" Merriman.

From there on out, Falcons took over, however, and shook off the Train loss against Aurora in the semi-finals with a resounding 13-3 to force the series into a third map.

On Nuke, once again, Vitality were no match for Falcons, which left Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire clutching his head in his hands in desperation as Falcons put up a second 13-3 with a 1.94-rated performance by Ilya "⁠m0NESY⁠" Osipov to secure the bronze finish.
