Brollan: "It's a hard moment to believe but I know that we're going to win a trophy this season"

"Repeating mistakes" and a lack of practice are harming MOUZ according to their captain, but he still has hope for another trophy before 2025 is out.

A harsh dose of reality was delivered to MOUZ and Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin as Vitality beat them for the eighth time this year (fifth in playoffs) to eliminate them from BLAST London.

Since becoming in-game leader in February, Brollan has done well to keep MOUZ as a top-four team that is always in the hunt for trophies.

But scrutiny is increasing on the Swede: They have a 42% win-rate on T side since July and that was a problem once more against Vitality with 4-8 and 2-7 offensive halves.

Vitality march past MOUZ to make BLAST Open London grand final

"We're struggling a lot," Brollan admits. "And it's mainly on T sides where you feel like you're blaming yourself for it because it's just shit."

It's partly down to a lack of practice, and Dennis "sycrone" Nielsen insisted changes are not on the cards, telling James "BanKs" Banks that "we have a great group, and they're all still quite young and they have their best years ahead of them."

But MOUZ will know that plenty rests on the next three moths.

Listen to the interview here.

Unfortunately, back to what was before Cologne. What's your first impression on that loss?

They were the better team today. It was a weird game, we managed to not get much momentum on both of our sides, but they played very well and we didn't play our best.

How much did those failed anti-ecos on Mirage disrupt the game plan?

No, we lost an anti-eco, they lost... I'm not sure, sometimes you lose anti-ecos and it brings down some momentum but of course it's going to be a doubt if you lose these anti-ecos.

What would you put Mirage down to? You guys are usually so good on CT Mirage but what was it? All those A hits?

No, I would say they always try to focus on one site. It was more A this game, they kept repeating calls and did some variations. We were minimum two or three on the site and we didn't manage to kill them. It happens sometimes. They were shooting well, they were really sharp today.

How are you feeling after EWC? You've only lost to Falcons, Spirit, and Vitality in playoffs this year but would you say there's been a bit of a dip in form this season?

Not really. We haven't had a single week of practice. Maybe that's an excuse, but we keep repeating mistakes all the time. We try to do as much as we can for it, but practicing for a full week is impossible at the moment. Of course, I don't want to blame it on that but it's just the truth. Now we're going to go home, have a long break, and hopefully we manage some good practice for when we go to the next tournament.

MOUZ got a hostile reception from the English crowd

How important is that break? The T sides have been a talking point but without practice obviously it's quite hard to fix. What will you work on?

Everything. Mainly T side, of course, but we're struggling a lot. We're really disconnected, and we are repeating mistakes. It's hard to play in general. As a caller I don't have many ideas, if I say so, I need to work on that. I need to come up with new things. It's really hard to have new things and use them in officials when you've barely played them in practice. It is what it is with this schedule, but we need to be better at these things as well.

Are you still enjoying in-game leading? It's been a while now, and it's hard without that practice but how are you feeling?

It feels good, it's just really frustrating when you lose these games. I would say we're close to trophies always, and it's just in this momentum we can't really play. We're struggling a lot, and it's mainly on T sides where you feel like you're blaming yourself for it because it's just shit. Of course it's fun, I just need to bring more ideas for myself and try to have this time to think. It's going to come. I know that we're going to win a trophy this season. It's a hard moment to believe this but we're working hard, we're working our asses off to win these trophies.

They would probably lose to G2 as well. G2 are looking so dangerous right now. They might actually win London. Their T side looks a lot better than Vitality's and their CT is no joke either.

MOUZ destroyed them in online. Yes, destroyed, score was like 10-2 on both maps, and then happened MOUZ things, but they closed it 2-0 anyway. I like new g2 roster, but only spirit and vita could beat MOUZ on lan and maybe MongolZ sometimes.

I watch more or less every tournament, and the only memory I have from MouZ games, are their impeccable talent for not winning any Trophy's I would actually love for them to move down to t2-3 for a bit, until they figure it out, as it is quite painful to watch them play insanely bad each final so far.

Their EPLs wins were pretty solid, their runs beat the top teams, but yeah, its a studio tournament. Regarding arena events, they just can't make the last step, always losing in semis and finals (like heroic 22/23)

I don't think its about hating. What the squad of the avg age of Mouz has acheived is insane. But this is their peak, period! In an era where star studded rosters make all the highlights their teamplay can get them only so far, there will always be a squad that will shoot harder against them and their age will show when dealing with pressure. Can a storied org like Mouz wait as long as it takes fpr them to shrug their playoff hangover off? Only time will tell!

they being in almost top 4 in every single event kinda shakes the "playoff hangover" off. but they are in a kinda slump / mental blockade against their core rivals surely. but it might be the first kind of these experiences for the likes of jimpphat, which he (and others) will learn from. ropz was in huge slump towards the end of faze aswell and now he is back to the top. happens. I dont see mouz top 4 as sth. bad nor do I think they are at the end of the road with a new and inexperienced igl. same here, look at apex, he is doing his igl job for years now, but it took him some time aswell. is there a guarantee that mouz or brollan f.e. will be top 1 in some time? no. but its possible, that they get over the slump some time. there is still unused potential of some players like jimpphat or xertion in terms of consistancy.

I was waiting for the G2 victory to come back to this. Becausr this was crucial to reirterate the point Torzsi made earlier that being second means nothing. You can rest easy as a fan comtemplating that they still "good enough" and were 2nd place to Vita on the first half of the season, but they have only themselves to blame to be facing Vita for so many times over and never taking the W when mattered. Where G2 proved that they have what it takes to beat a team better tham them, while Mouz could only beat teams worse off than them and almost always faltered against teams better than them. Proves once again that Mouz even after half a season together lacks the nerves to be called a great. Sorry but their trajectory proves that this is true, they'll always be a contender but never a champion, you can rest easy with that result as a fan but I know as a squad it'll always claw at the back of thier mind.

Have to disagree heavily there because comparing a new G2 team with lots of firepower in their "honeymoon" phase to a team surely fixated in the top 4 "struggling" to win a final is quite dishonest imo. Lets compare G2 in 8 months when they might hit a wall - if it takes as long. Losing to Vita in several finals is surely disappointing, especially for the players themselves, but lets not forget, Vita is on average 4 years more experienced and they arguably have 2 of the 5 best players currently in shape plus 2 perfectly fit role players in flameZ & especially mezii. Its not like they lose to EYEBALLERS (no offense) on the regular, they beat basically everyone for 8 months and only lost to Vita, Spirit & Falcons, which they have all beaten aswell, especially Spirit. I think there is no shame in losing to a more experienced, arguably more skilled ceiling with zywoo and more "fit" team in vitality. (lets no forget that jimpphat changed some roles/positions aswell and is in a slump). To come back to your main point, I am not suprised that G2 won this event, they seem to have a great group with fitting roles together, great individuals who seem to hit their stride and had no pressure playing the favorites on paper. They have the individual skill to beat everyone, as do 6-7 other teams in the top8, but most have pressure aswell which G2 didnt have here. High expectations and underwhelming performances are what makes the top 4 struggled in some spots. I would still bet my money on mouz being the superior teams in the long run even tho G2 is in better shape currently, but you cant take 1 event in comparison to like 12 overall for mouz in 2025. Lets see how G2 performs once they are settled as a team and go into an event as top 5 contender with high expectation in 3 months.

2 sidenotes aswell, heavygod played brilliantly this event, but his 2 worst maps were against mouz. donk often also struggles (in comparison) against mouz, which confirms that mouz has the individual skill and smarts to outplay top players like few (if any) can. I say this to say aswell that mouz will most likely never be the undisputed no1 with this current lineup (if no huge development takes place) because they have not that top 3 player like vita (zywoo), spirit (donk) or falcons (monesy) do, which makes it harder to "peek" in crucial moments but they still could win trophies being the best overall team at a specific time. Having 4 players in the top 20 last year kinda proves this point while other had mostly 2. Identical makeup of a team as NaVi aswell being more team driven with jL back then, no superstars, but could win events.

imagine mouz losing to GentleMates or B8... ;) Thats what I meant playing expectations and maybe the end of the honeymoon phase, now the real test actually starts in the upcoming months.

Ghost? Vitality is just insane this year and noone could win over them if we dont count their recent small slump. Idk why u call them "chokers" When they win vs everyone there are supposed to win and then fall to a Vitality that's been godlike this year.
