G2 beat Vitality to win BLAST Open London
G2 pick up their first title under huNter- after a five-map thriller at Wembley Arena.

G2 were crowned the BLAST Open London champions on Sunday following a 3-2 victory against Vitality in the final, picking up their first title in 2025 just two months after Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač took over as in-game leader.
The loss is a huge blow to a Vitality team still looking for its first trophy since the player break, four events into the season. They will be kicking themselves after letting a match point slip on Inferno against a low buy as G2 rallied for an overtime win before cruising on Train, where Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko and Matúš "MATYS" Šimko, the two least experienced players on the roster, stole the show to send a packed Wembley Arena into raptures.
It was an incredible all-round team performance from G2, backing HeavyGod's statement that the team "doesn't need an insane superstar" because they know how to act as a unit. They move up to fifth in the global VRS and add their name to the expanding list of title contenders as we enter a busy leg of the season before the Budapest Major.

G2 came out with all guns blazing on Dust2, Vitality's map pick, and dictated terms right from the off. Vitality looked so out of sorts that Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut endured his worst start to a map in 2025, but he still came alive late in the half with a stunning ace clutch on the B site. By then, it was already too late to have a meaningful impact as the half ended with a lopsided 10-2 score, with everyone on G2 sitting on double digits.
More misery was heaped on Vitality, who lost a 4v3 advantage in the ensuing pistol as MATYS picked up two quick headshots to unlock the A site. Vitality still got on the board with a couple of MP9s in hand, but it merely delayed the inevitable as HeavyGod put the seal on the game with a 1v2 clutch.
Vitality came out on Mirage a different side and took the fight to their opponents, winning five of the opening six rounds of the game. G2 struggled to find opening kills in the half, but they still managed to bounce back and posted six rounds on the offense.
And that was when ZywOo took over the game. A pistol round ace kick-started a crushing T side performance that saw the French superstar post a 16-0 score, 178 ADR and +30.55% round swing to power Vitality to a quick 7-0 run and tie up the series.
ZywOo picked up where he left off as the game went to Overpass, posting three multi-kills as Vitality jumped out to a promising 4-0 lead on the T side. G2 then enjoyed a spell of dominance as they went on a 6-0 run before Vitality equalized off of Robin "ropz" Kool multi-kills.
G2 were dealt a heavy blow in the ensuing pistol as they lost a 2v1 situation against Shahar "flameZ" Shushan. An eco round would be the closest they would get to winning a round in the half as Vitality enjoyed a commanding 7-0 run to take the lead in the series.
Just like on the previous two maps, the first half of Inferno ended in a 6-6 stalemate after G2 recovered from a slow start, with MATYS raising eyebrows with two great individual rounds on the A site late in the half.
The back-and-forth nature continued in the second half, with G2 taking control of proceedings after a 0-3 start. Their dominant run came to an end as Dan "apEX" Madesclaire pulled off a miraculous 1v2 clutch on the A site, but Vitality wouldn't be able to put the series to rest as G2 won the final round of regulation on a shoddy buy and proceeded to swiftly win the map in overtime with some stellar fragging from Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa and MATYS.
HeavyGod stole the spotlight during the early stages of Train with a Dual Berettas ace in the pistol round and a 1v2 clutch shortly afterward, powering G2 to a 6-0 lead. It was only then that Vitality finally found their footing on the T side, picking up four rounds in the rest of the half to keep the scoreline competitive.
But any hopes they had didn't last long as MATYS took over the game at the start of the second half with one multi-kill after the other. G2 quickly reached series point and held off a comeback attempt from their opponents, putting the match to bed in dramatic fashion.
